Anyone else enjoy reading about games more than they play?

Worringly, I am finding myself more and more interested in what is happening in the industry and end up buying games, playing them for a short while then spending several hours reading about other games - lol.

Oh well, I suppose as a hobby, it keeps me off the streets shilling myself for a tenner a go in the long, dark winter nights.

Yes, but only 'cos I can read about games at work and not play them.

Edit to add : I think the fact that I read about up-coming games so much means I picture them better than they turn out. My over-optimistic view may be the same as yours and the eventual game doesn't live up to what was hoping for (after all the build-up), therefore I stop playing and start reading about the next 'big thing'.

I enjoy reading about the technology behind games, making ofs, developer commentaries, and just reading about new games, but I wouldn't say more than I enjoy playing them.

It's usually more that I'm in a different frame of mind when I do. If I'm tired or just not in the mood to play and find an interesting article I'll happily read away.

In terms of the multiplayer aspect perhaps, i.e. reading about the 'community' around a game. I don't read more about singleplayer games than play them, however.

That's exactly what I do.

I'm sure I used to enjoy playing more when I was younger...
