Anyone else find GRAW very difficult?

Mate and I were messing about with GRAW at the weekend, granted we'd had a few drinks and we're both use to playing FPS on the PC but we were finding it very difficult to aim/kill and not die horribly. We were being careful, using the drone to identify where enemies were etc but we'd just get pasted in seconds. I think the best we did was take down 18 of them for the 2 of us..

any tips other than "dont die" and "dont get hit"?

Comic moment of the weekend was me shouting "grenade!" as I chucked on over a wall onto to have it bounce off the top and land at our feet :D

Hehe its a hard game thats for sure or maybe im just completely useless at it. Still havent even completed the first level after the training one...just cant seem to get past that wall after im told the operative has been found:p.

Bahhh i suck eggs at this game...might have to give it another bash tonight.

Come on line and play with the OcUK Graw Krew (yeah I said it, and spelt it that way). We all have completely different styles of play so it is hard to define one that really works best (obviously Ceeg's Wall Hacks give him the edge ;)).

Just by playing with us you will begin to pick up some tips, technique, delivery & style... oh and generally the best routes we have found through the maps.

When we play against each other, sure, at first you may feel like canon fodder, but you will pick things up quickly. (You will also learn to accept that no matter where you are on the map in relation to Ceeg, he will kill you and its because he cheats :p)

What difficulty?? the high one is just stupid there is a part (think its the start of level 2) its just your luck if you die or not, nothing else
the normal difficulty isnt too bad, use the zoom (left trigger) a lot lol

Luck? Its skill, and perciverence that gets you through these games. I still cant understand how people complain about hte chopper part on level 2, I died once, yet I here people saying that they died 100000000000 times and quit.

The chopper parts are easy, keep the gun spinning. Shoot everything that moves (don't wait for it to get a diamond round it). spray and pray, its a machine gun. You do not need to be acurate. Usually I get more kills when waving it around like a loon, than I do when aiming at things.

In terms of single player.

Leave your squad behind. They will get you killed in every situation. Only call them in if you
A) need a decoy
B) need to blow up a vehicle.

Once done with them, put them in a corner and leave them.

Use the cover and peak tequnique. You present a much smaller target. Use the drone whenever it is available. And be very anal about how you use it. HAve it sweep, where you are, just infront of you, your route, your destination and the area you want to be shooting at. only lower it for a second. you can tap the button to lower it and as soon as a diamond appears tap the button again this will keep it from harm.

Take the level slowly. try to remember the position of the person that shot you last.

Use the default weapon given to you at any time, don't go changing what they have chosen, you will regret it.

get familiar with the enemy AI. it becomes very pradictable and easy to read.

It can be a very frustrating game.

My biggest tip, is to switch to first person mode. I find I'm quicker at targeting.

Other than that. TAKE YOUR TIME. As you've been doing, identify targets and move slowly.

In addition to what kronologic says, do not underestimate the pistol. You can fire it as quickly as you can pull the trigger (try 'ungripping' the right hand and using the side of your index finger, shaking your hand at the wrist) and it is great at close quarters.

I found the squad very useful :)

They're very good at scouting, and the enemy is less accurate when shooting at them. I like to move up to an entrance, have my squad one side, me on the other, and kill the enemy in the crossfire.

Cover is the most important aspect of GRAW. It should be in all games, except sadly its always underrated (GOW looks like it will use cover, yay). Stay in cover, only move from cover to cover, incidentally the same rules of any trained armed force.

The minigun on the helicopter should be fired constantly as has been said, but make sure you fire it in bursts otherwise it'll 'overheat'. When being shot at, the enemy will fire less and will be less accurate (as close to supressed as this game allows), that gives you a significant advantage.

Don't underestimate your squad, they're very good if you give them a chance. They can't read your mind, and they can't go out and shoot everything in the level on their own. They can't in real life, they can't in the game. Order them into position, use the two states (passive / aggressive), and you'll find them extremely useful.

No way, i done it on normal relativly fine, but in the hard mode, the chopper would start to swoop up and before i could even see the roof to get a target, i was dead. I literaly couldnt even see anyone as the chopper was that low.
There is an element of skill though as the gun keeps heating up. But it was just the initial burst up the way if you survived that it wasnt too bad, but a lot of the times, death would be as soon as the chopper moved it sucked :(

Yea the chopper bit is pretty difficult, but not impossible.

The only other bit I had trouble with was blowing up the big tower in the train yard, that isnt too easy, but again...doable

As others have said, cover isnt there for decoration, its essential!

**possible spoiler**
Ohh i hated that bit when doing it on normal, dont wanna think about it on hard. or the bit with the taking the tanks/snipers out on the rooftops :( especially when i had to do it successfully3 times cos its bugged and sometimes wont trigger  lol

I nearly traded this game in, i deleted it, but due to the new content that has come out ive decided to keep it,, deleted it though, so will have to start again, and your right bloody hard game :p

Yeah, thats just plain stupid and it removed all enjoyment from the game for me.

I had problems witht the chopper bit too, it did't help that i was on red when i got there. I put the game to one side for abit. So i restarted the mission and got to the chopper without taking a hit, and then did the chopper mission without taking a hit first time. I must have tried it 15-20 times before.

Not really worth a new thread...but where are the helicopters in multiplayer? Yes, I'm achievement hunting, but I like to do things the hard way (like I completed the 'Perfect chapter 1' achievement on my lonesome!). :p

You need to do a Team Territory i think, once the point has been captured it sends out a chopper (need to go to advance option and turn choppers on).

You may need 2 controllers, 1 to capture / recapture point and your profile to shoot them down.

Nowhere is a good map as its small.
