I concede that one is much nicer looking. But to me it still doesn't look like it belongs on a desk for a computer.

As i have said before, I'm not entirely basing this thread on portable computers but the fact that the MBA has been imitated not just by the hardware but by the advertising.

I'm not quite sure you can claim that an advert with black text on a white background with photos of the product is copying Apple's advertising.

So a company showing the thickness of a laptop in an ad is automatically "apple styled" because of macbok air ads? Ill go one further and say that sony probably had very similar ads for their slimline laptops long before the macbook air.

How exactly does that not look like it should be on a desk for a computer display? Because its not white and doesnt have a picture of a fruit on it coupled with a larger price tag because of that fact?

No, because it has a massive chin on it and looks identical to there TV's.

FYI, i have a Dell 2007WFP. White? Who uses white nowadays? That's so 2 years ago...

All I find about the Apple ads is they don't actually tell me anything I care about in a product. That MacBook Air laptop tells me it's aluminium and thin. It doesn't tell me if it's any good. I also find. It's annoying. How they keep breaking. Their sentences apart.

Also it's not really a fair comparison to compare a £300 advent to a far more expensive Mac?

The "chin" as you put it is the bezel, its not overly large on the second monitor nor does it look like one of their tv's. But why do i get the feeling you would accept the "chin" on the imac to be totally acceptable even though it is of Jimmy Hill proportions.

I have obviously struck a nerve when i was just having a joke in all honesty.

I would accept a chin on the iMac, of course. You know why? Because that "monitor" has a whole computer inside it.

Mine has been in a drawer for over a month now. Pile of ****. Brilliant for travelling with though.

First Rev top spec SSD Air. It's great, don't get me wrong, but my 1996 laptop (seems to have) has more punch than it. It really struggles with Flash. Really, really, really struggles. We refer to it as 'the toy' in work. It was so bad I had to get a MacBook Pro to augment it

Not struck any nerve, and we're obviously all well aware the imac has a "whole" computer inside the screen, though really not that impressive when you consider a laptop does more or less the same thing though with a hinge attaching the screen to the main unit. Laptop probably has more in the way of end user upgradability as well.

Your points on the samsung however don't stand, it doesn't look like a tv and it does look like something you would expect to find on a computer desk.
