All fun tho!

I find the smaller tracks are anyones game. You can go from 1st to 12 within one straight. The bigger tracks which require more skill I find separates people a little.

GBA bowser castle 3 etc require the most skill.

Heck yes, much swearage going on here - have to try and remember not to shout too loudly, don't want my 7 yr old (who's asleep upstairs!) to hear me - but those bl&%dy red shells!!

The snes and GBA levels are the best for proving skill.

Trick is to get really far ahead, then even 2 blue shells cant stop you, however it only works on the more complex levels i.e. not Luigi's Circuit which is just pot luck to whovever wins.

This really puts me off playing mario kart. Sure its entertaining, but the fact it takes so little skill but major amounts of luck to win just annoys me.

I'd say that luck does come into it but then how do you explain why some people have scores of over 8000 online?

My mate has the opinion that it's all luck and that we are "cheating" when we beat him but luck doesn't explain why he consistently comes below us on the rankings.

I think there is an element of luck, but if you're skilled enough you'd have to be really unlucky to lose

It's very annoying when you get hit by red, blue, lighting, blue (or whatever), but if you're good, have little luck and a lead you can recover, the main thing is to try and remain cool and not forget what is going on

It also means the game is short lived because if it's highly influenced by luck why come back to it so often?

I'd have not lost a single race if it wasn't for luck, that's why it's annoying. Pretty much all my losses are due to blue shells or lightening hitting me when I'm in the air dropping me off the level on the last lap and me ending up in 8th.

havent played single player but the first time i played the game i came first with the wheel on mushroom gorge. but i know what you mean, happened to me a lot online.. bullet bills usually slam me when im right out of the way.

I usually wait for a map im good at like coconut mall, or yoshi falls then own em just by hugging the sides of the map and be way ahead.. miss the item boxes etc for good reason

i miss the blue spikey shell from Mk64 though, they were much better and more destructive than the exploding shell.. guess thats why they removed it

I agree. Now that I've found my killer combination (Bowser Jr and the Mach Bike) I'm pretty much always in the lead and only lose if I get Blue shelled near the end (apart from on rainbow road where I sometimes fall off!)

I honestly haven't sworn at a game since i was about 15 (I'm 24 now)

My girlfriend was shocked at the language coming out of my mouth yesterday when doing the 100cc bike cups, it's not like a real racing game where if you get a good lead and don't mess up, you sustain it, it 'helps' you and the computer to all stay near each other

1st -> 10th on the final lap isn't fun

They really should have kept the 'super jump' power up, so you can dodgy the stupid 'pow' power-ups, they're really infuriating on some levels, like the one with all the mushrooms that you bounce onto
