I feel like there’s a subscription for everything these days.

Having a worked for a company who was a pioneer of the business model in the corporate world, I understand the benefits it brings to companies - namely a more consistent revenue stream, and consistent growth.

But man, having things increase left, right and centre is frustrating as a consumer.

Just off the top of my head, I’ve got:

Spotify
Netflix
Prime
YouTube Premium
OneDrive
iCloud

Cars are basically a subscription model nowadays, due to the cost of purchasing them.

Again, I understand why, but I wonder what the limit is for most?

So it's all your fault you monster.
I've binned of a few, but still have more to go. It's just a constant financial drain.

Since losing my job I've been cutting back. I cancelled all subscriptions, except prime because I paid for a year and it's my main TV service.

I cancelled them knowing I can get them back if needed, but it seems like a good idea to go without for a bit and see if the service is really worth it. In some cases there's a free alternative

Made me think this process should be part of everyone's annual financial checkup.

If you get value i.e prime it's worth it. I pay Spotify because there's no way I could replicate with manual behaviour.

Netflix you can pirate but it's in indispensable for the kids.

Yt premium is the only pure luxury on that list imo. And surely OneDrive and iCloud can be rationalised or is that apple tax?

Annual is very delinquent on basic responsibility. For Spotify that could be 200 quid...

Outside of few free 6 month subs here and there with Apple / Disney+ due to console ownerships etc. I now just have Prime, via student £50 a year discount. Binned off BBC License. Miser be me!

My failing is keeping them going when I'm not even using them, stuff like netflix and now tv. would make much more sense to bin them off and just resubscribe if/when there's something I want to watch.
Prime is a yearly sub for me too, and I have had a lot of value from it, but I'm starting to get fed up of that now too. I order far far too much stuff because of the convenience factor.

I don’t really have anything on subscription. The last thing I binned off was Prime.

I did have a PlayStation play sub, but that went once the games were primarily ps5 and I’ve not brought one yet.

I have all the normally utilities like mobile phone, broadband, tv licence, electricity etc…

Fair play, yes. Xbox sub stopped a few days ago but I do have a PSN Extra till next Black Friday.

I like the prime TV but also want to bin off the shopping part of it. Could have sworn they used to offer TV only but can't find that now.

100% agree with you and it's cheesing me off.

Even ms office is a monthly subscription, although I have a copy of the last paid for in full version.

We have netflix, prime, Disney+, Microsoft game pass, binned the Spotify, just became too much, and I can cope with the adverts.

Prime im cheesed they've started to add adverts, but really I only have prime cos if the deliveries

Disney the missus and boy love it, netflix has a great selection of programs (prefer it to prime tbh) games pass is more for the kid again, but now I think about it, for what I pay each month and the very few games I play, and the small selection of games he's found I could have just bought the games....

We had sky cinema at one point binned that off.

But everywhere I look now almost everything requires a subscription, all Adobe products are now subscription, in fact most software is subscription based now.

Disney and Microsoft you are way better off buying a voucher for the year. Pretty sure I get my ms sub from wowcher or something lol

Spotify is a waste of money if you already have YT Premium as YT Music is great, that's one thing you can easily cut out :p

As of now i have no subscription. I did have prime a while back.

Goling forward don't need any..

iCloud
Google Drive
Dropbox (Cancelling this summer)
Netflix
Amazon Prime
YouTube Premium
Barclays Blue Rewards (gives me a 5% interest account and Apple TV)

Totaling around £70 a month roughly.

I cancelled Odeon Limitless and the gym during lockdown and never rejoined. That saved like £50 a month!

Apple TV until Silo finishes

Will probably cycle through some of the streaming services once Silo finishes.

Blue Rewards was great until it wasn’t.

I've cut down a bit, only things I'd really call subscriptions that I have are:
Amazon prime
Google drive
Youtube premium

Guess stuff like monthly phone bundle, union membership, broadband, a few charities too.

Do spend some mega money on subscriptions for 'electricity' and 'gas' too that are pretty expensive. Worst one has to be 'council tax' though, goes up every year but at the same time what they offer gets more limited each year.
