Anyone else getting subscription burnout?

Been quite tight on my subs this year.

Apple One
Amazon Prime (annual and ad free)

Plenty to watch with just them of late, may sub to HBO soon though once a months sub covers all of the new series Lanterns. Plus I buy the odd cheap digital movie from Apple and physical 4k release now and again so have a decent backlog of movies.

I keep getting badgered by Netflix to re join, but Im not sure if its just me but I can't think of anything worth watching on Netflix, it feels like Netflix has got worse and worse since all its better shows have come to an end like Stranger Things, Ozark and so on.

I know what you mean, cancelled over 2 years ago and was planning on dipping in at some point to watch some stuff, but so far haven't felt the need, maybe would have done for series 5 of Stranger Things but have bought the 4K Boxset. Think there might be a new series of Sex, Death and Robots which I wouldn't mind seeing, and Three Body Problem sounded interesting (but it's been a few years and no sign whatsoever of a second series) but that's about it. Seems like it's all cheap true crime docs and reality TV on there these days, plus a few straight to VHS style films.

I wish some entrepreneur would start a streaming service that included them all under one subscription.

Netflix
Prime (could be a version without the prime delivery)
Paramount+
Disney+
HBO

and any other big ones I've missed.

One monthly payment, that totals slightly less than the total of them individually.

I'm subscribed to all of them as well and I hardly use them but I get the feeling if I cancel I'll want to use them all suddenly. I mainly just watch YouTube these days.

I did a bit of a purge recently after realising I hadn't opened Disney+ for months and knocked £145 per month off my monthly outgoings by the time i'd binned a few subs, renewed stuff like mobile phone that was £10pm cheaper to go back on a contract rather than monthly rolling etc.

We have;
Disney+ (barely used by daughter anymore, but there's some new Star Wars stuff coming soon)
Prime (Useful for free deliveries.
AppleTV (Best Sci-Fi shows out there at the moment, probably 75% of my viewing on there.)
Netflix (Wife only uses it for Bridgerton or stuff like that)

If anything, I'd rather cancel my TV license, but the women of the house love Strictly and a few other things.

I used to have Netflix and Disney Plus and Apple TV. Then I joined Amazon Prime and quit the others. My plan at that stage was just to keep switching streaming services every few months, watch the good stuff then switch. Repeat. However, it's been over two years and I am still on Amazon Prime. Haven't felt the need to go to any other service yet. Initially I thought the offerings were very poor outside of the The Boyz and The Expanse. But it has loads of hidden gems and it's getting better for new shows too.

If I was on my own I don't think I'd have any subscriptions.

Spotify is actually starting to look really expensive for what it is.

personally I think with Prime any individual perk is not worth it for the yearly cost

but all together
the fast delivery
the TV
the books
the music
the videogames

it's a really good package .

we ditched Disney plus

have apple as it's a perk of our bank
have basic sky package because the wife insists on it
and keep netflix because we added my mum as an extra user and she uses it a lot.

the licensing is where the issues come from. They got all too greedy.

I'm still only subbed to apple cloud storage.

rest is local content streamed to tv or phone for music ;)

Have any of you guys watched Black Mirror - Common People? (E01 of season 7 I think, most rcent...) ironically (or not, to prove a point) shown on Netflix.

I'm beginning to think this myself. My only issue is moving playlist and Son over to YT Music and I'd likely take YT Premium for the same cost.

I might even be able to go "offline". I mostly listen to same music as I only really listen to music/podcasts in car and on planes etc.
And I mostly listen to same stuff or stick to artists I know.. As I'm lazy!

I'm really only paying for convenience I guess.

I pay for the Spotify Family. Currently listed as £22 a month but I onlly pay £18.

Gets me 6 premium accounts.

I have one, the wife has one, the house has one (Google account for smart devices, saves messing with each other's playback), My mum and sis in law both have one and they send me their portion of the cost each month. The spare one belong to wife's stepdad but he died earlier this year so that's being kept for a while by my wife for sentimental reasons.

£3/month per account isn't breaking the bank

Yeah clearly if you can share out the subscriptions it's much cheaper and a non issue.

You seem to be under the impression that these services are for your benefit. No one will agree to this because it doesn’t benefit them. Why on earth would they do this ?

They ofcourse don't have a reason. That's why you use ehem...alternatives that bundle everything into one monthly payment. You just need to be able to look past how it's done.

They all wanted a piece of the pie and fractured the market way too much.

I currently have Disney, Netflix and HBO bundled into my Sky subscription. There's clearly a benefit (more subscribers) and that's the key.

If as a standalone platform I can only get 50,000 subscribers and another platform can get 70,000 then why would I not seek a partnership that bundles my platform with the other & offer that bundle at slightly cheaper price than 2 separate ones? If we agree we both end up with 120,000 subscribers. (best case)
