Anyone else had Everest windows?

front door is basic - 6'5 ish tall, 3foot wide, window is a bedroom one, flat, double glazed, one small window in it that opens, about 3.5 feet by 5.5feet... nothing special, no bays, no wood frames ect..

Just not happy with the qoute for 1 door 1 window...

Still, time to get yellow pages out and have a look for local firms :)

cheers all.

Sorry, I wasn't kncocking the quality or how much heat the keep in or sound out. It was just the fact you had stated in your first post that you bought the house with them and they are worth the money. You can't say that unless you know how much something costs IMO.

It makes more sense now that you have said you bought some yourself.

I still state that a local company will give you just as good windows for much less money and these big companies have big commission to pay their salesmen and National advertising compaigns on TV.

My boss replaced all 56 windows in his house with fake wood upvc ones for £20,000 plus fitting (local builder fittid them). He got a national well known company in to quote originally and they wanted £50,000 inc fitting. I doubt the local builder charged £30,000 somehow.

Anyone used a good window and door fitter around Bolton / Wigan area.

I know i am looking in yellow pages, but would prefer one someone else had used and found them to be good. If you know what i mean.

i used a company called viewline based in south manchester

usual crap with the discounted prices etc but they did the job well imo. would imagine they would cover bolton also.

Everest and Zenith are pure salesmen scum.

Some of their subcontractors might do a good job, but ultimately you will always be paying at least 1.5x the average.

Get a local firm that has word of mouth.

Had a guy from Everest round to measure up and qoute for 1 front door and 1 bedroom window...

His 1st qoute was £5300 with discounts he got it down to £2321.. now to me this seems hugely high price, but knowing nothing about windows and doors, am i right...

life time warranty and all that. But still, £2300 for 1 door and 1 window....

now ringing around for others just to check, but anyone else had a window and door fitted, how much???
