Anyone else here got one of these 12nm Ryzen 1600 CPU's? Spoiler Alert!! It's awesome AF.. ;)

they are £85. for a 6 core amd cpu. a 2600 is faster. they start at £100 when on offer. buy a 2600 on offer sell borderlands 3. you basically have a faster cpu than these for same price. 2700s are as low as 120. same again sell borderlands. 15 quid more for a faster 8 core cpu. so there is no real point in these if you sell the game you get free with the other cpus. the games sell very quick on members market.

a 2700 for basically 100 pound is a steal.

You're comparing second hand to brand new and claiming it's cheaper? What's your point?

I could wait 6 months and pick up a second hand 12nm Ryzen 1600 for £40-60.

The 1600 YD1600BBAFBOX is a 2600 but Dg is also right if a 2700 is £120 with BL3 after selling the game (For £12) that makes the 2700 £108 which is £23 more but £108 for a Zen+ 8 core 16 thread CPU its a steal.

However the YD1600BBAFBOX price wise is more in line with a Pentium 5400G or whatever they are called and the 1600 AF is a million miles better than that.

Ah, so OcUK don't stock them. I've found it, although it's listed as £98. I'm building a budget system for my daughter, and I have a Z170 motherboard so was looking to pick up a 6600k or 6700k but maybe it'd be better with this 6 core.

Hmmm.

I could be missing something but you do know that the 1600 is an AMD chip? You seem to be saying that you’d get it for your current motherboard which won’t work.

Oh good grief yes ^^^ its an AMD CPU, you will need an AM4 motherboard.

This one, MSI B450M Bazooka V2: £80, which is currently out of stock.

Or this one, ASRock B450 Pro 4: £80, which is in stock, i have been running the older B350 version of it for 3 years, its a pretty good board and its now running a Ryzen 3600 perfectly with the latest 1004 AGESA BIOS.

And some DDR4 for those who need it. Team Group Vulcan T-Force 2X 8GB 3200Mhz £63.

£228 with the £85 1600 AF, a CPU equivalent to an Intel core i7 6800K. a budget build with real performance, none of this Dual Core Hyper Threaded junk.

brand new not 2nd hand. 2700s are £120 new. with borderlands 3. sell the game £100 8 core 2700. 2600 also faster is £100 new with borderlands 3. same again sell it. same price as these chips.

The ASRock B450M Pro4 F is around £60 to £65 so is also worth considering.

This board has 2m.2 but second one is only SATA not PCIe. Not sure why as other B450 chip is able to offer pcie 2.0 x4

something worth noting if you are planning on having more than 1 m.2 drives.

You should consider the MSI mortar max

It looks to me like a rebranded Micro ATX version of mine, at £70 its one of the cheapest B450's you can get, i think if you're spending £70 on a board you're not running 2 NVMe drives.

There are more feature rich B450 boards, yes, but they are more expensive, personally i think the B450 Tomahawk is all the board anyone really needs but its £100.

I have been running my B350 Pro 4 for 3 years, its nothing even remotely flash but it has been rock solid and still is with the 3600. i run a 500MB M.2 NVMe and a 500MB M.2 SATA and a spinny disk.

You can get way cheaper B450m boards. Asrock and gigabyte both do ones that are £45-50 mark. But you sacrifice ram capacity as they only have 2 dimm slots, they only come with 1 PCIe x16 slot (gen 3) and only 1 PCIe x1 slot. So fairly limited in terms of expansion.

but also has a single m.2 via CPU delivering pcie x4.

Matx is always a limited form factor as they can only cram so much on the board. But the chipset should offer full capabilities it’s just the manufacturer trying to save cost.

although I prefer the format and I do have matx system. The case is smaller so fit in my desk. I don’t want a massive block of monolith sitting next to my eye sight. Haha

Its a real pity there are no cheap ITX B450/B550 boards available or due out. One of these would make a great SFF gaming/emulator/media pc. Cheapest I can find is about £112 which is £30 more than the chip.

Just got mine today and for £85 it is definitely a keeper :D

got mine installed and running some overclocks. How much volts you have put through the ram? I have crucial ballistix. It can run at tight timing with stock bolts but going beyond the rates 3200MHz seems difficult. I was putting 1.36v. Just want to know what headroom I have in the ram as I will be looking for a secondhand or heavily discounted 3900x or similar cpu further down the line.

also what bolts you had on your CPU?

The memory is running at 3600Mhz Cl14 with 1.425v (E-Die is safe up to 1.5v)

The CPU is 4.2Ghz stable at 1.3v.

There are cheaper A320 itx options but then your not going to have as many features as on the b450.

pretty much true apart from the 1600af being as quick as a 6800k. at stock maybe close overclock the 5820k 6800k bye bye . overclocked they are basically like a stock 8700 or 3600.

i dont get the 1600 af tbh. just buy a 2600 . you do get a lot of bang for your buck though. which is great for entry level pc gaming.

It depends on what price you can get the 1600 AF at. If you can get it close to RRP it's a good £25 cheaper then the 2600 which at this level is a quite a lot of to save.
