Anyone else not like widescreen + HD?

I can understand widescreen being annoying occasionally if something is stretched to fit the screen if it wasn't originally filmed in widescreen, but how can HD bother someone? Oh no, the quality is too high! Why isn't it slightly out of focus with washed out colours and fuzzy lines?

The only downside to HD in my eyes is the fact that non hd channels just look rubbish in comparison. But nearly everything I watch is broadcast in hd so its becoming less of an issue.

It annoyed me whenever I watched widescreen movies on a 4:3 TV; now it annoys me when I watch 4:3 broadcasts on widescreen TV. Weirdly, selecting 4:3 as the default resolves the issue in most cases.

I don't find high def annoying at all. It looks great - I'm old enough to remember watching snooker on black and white televisions and I don't understand why you're feeling nostalgic about old tv screens; they were bad for eyes, blurry and just generally awful in comparison to the quality we have now.
I understand a lot of nostalgic feelings but not this one.

it can make porn a bit unflattering to some of the 'actors'

we see in widescreen so i dont understand why its an issue. i much prefer it.

I dont know about you, but I cant see why we had to do away with cave paintings.
Progressivism in general can suck it as well.

Ha :) Good point, guess we had to move on.
Perhaps it less to do with the technology and more of the content is not as good. Ah well, each to their own.

I don't like having to buy new hardware and then rebuy films just to watch the same material.

DVDs look great on our upscaled player, good enough for me really.

I'm of the opinion with audiophiles, that the music is more important than than the audio quality.

i use to be a lot better at gaming on a 4:3 monitor.. i dont know why but i dont tend to pick out things on the edge of the screen.

maybe because im blind as a bat and sit really close to the tv /monitor though...

Nope, I only use 720 and 1080p media now, older quality is meh.

I do not really like wider than 16:9 AR's though.

I don't mind widescreen but hate really don't like HD. I think the first movie I saw in HD was Transformers and it gave me a headache. Everything was waaaay to bright. I know it's probably the TV settings or whatever but if I changed them SD would look too dull.

I also don't really like remastered/updated stuff so much either. Ghost in the Shell 2.0 looks fairly shocking because of this. All the new scenes look so odd running on from the older scenes. It really detracts from the actual movie.
