That since the NXE there are a lot more consoles that are dying with just blank screen and no audio than 3 red rings??? Hummm seems fishy to me... Maybe they removed the error to save them returns? Maybe i am just imagining it.

My experience backs that up, a lot more consoles have been getting E74 and no display rather than RROD since the NXE.

Before NXE pretty much every console I repaired was RROD, with the odd E74. Since NXE it's the exact opposite. There are still RROD NXE consoles, but nowhere near as many as E74.

They haven't removed the RROD completely, but the cynic in me says maybe MS did change something.....

a lot more?
numbers please.

There was an article I read that stated similar, suggesting that Microsoft may have replaced RROD with this new error so they wouldn't have to honour the extended warranty.

Makes you wonder...

I repair around 5 or 6 consoles a week on average, previously to NXE only one or two of those would be E74, with the rest being RROD. Since NXE it's the opposite, out of the 5 or 6 consoles only one or two have RROD, with the rest being E74.

Of course nobody is suggesting that the NXE is causing more consoles to go faulty, that would be ridiculous. But maybe MS changed the way the console reports internal faults, and faults that would previously trigger a RROD are now triggering E74.

Or it may be just a coincidence :)

I think there is a thread on OcUk about this somewhere hat links to one or more of these articles:

I have noticed since NXE that when using the guide you get random freezes and it can be painfully slow.

Wish i could use the old guide as this is a complete pita!
