Anyone else really not like quake wars

installed the beta.......specced for about 10mins..then uninstalled.
never done that before.
one word would describe it perfectly.... BORING

the engine is pretty naff too...

Actually I thought they did a good job with the engine. The rest isn't very good though.

Going from BF2 to BF2142 was dissapointing as there wasn't really anything revolutionary going on, but I'd say it does a far better job of depicting future warfare than Quake Wars, especially in gameplay.

TF2 is really doing it for me at the moment.

You didn't even play it?

How can you judge it when you don't know how to play, or even played at all?

I quite like it actually, catches on after a couple of days.

I must admitt when i tried the demo i was a bit out of my depth, not knowing what on earth i was doing. I will have to give it a good beating today and get back to you. I am hopeing sumone makes a few maps for this game based on the original ET. That would be awesome!

Yep, had high hopes for it, played the last two betas and the demo, put a fair few hours into it but I also think it sucks the big one.

It's a shame as it has some great ideas and you can't help but feel there's a great game in there somewhere. Just a shame it feels/looks/sounds so friggin' horrible to play.

Ah well, still enjoying BF2(142), TF2 is growing on me hour by hour and hopefully I'll like the MP in Crysis. So all in all this has done me a favour by being poo, so maybe I don't totally hate it after all. :D

Tesco's phoned round every 1 that jumped on that £12 deal and informed them of a pricing mistake, theres a thread on it somewhere.

They certainly didn't phone everyone that went for the original deal. First I knew was when I logged onto Tescos' site last week and it had gone up to £25 odd.

Well, I downloaded from Steam, had a quick hour on it and thouroughly hated it.

I then had a second play on it 24 hours later and it sort of grew on me.

IMO there is nothing special in it...just BF2 with Rail guns ?

Hard to believe ID could allow such tosh to be released.

Quake 4 wasn't the best either, =/

Then again as soon as i see "raven" in collaboration with id i just grimmace immediately, not to say ravens not made some good games, just i prefer the game to come from the creators of the game and not palmed off to another company. RTCW2 is also being made by raven :(

Ok after having played the demo for the past 3 hours I must say I love it, whats not to like? I've encountered no bugs or lag. The gameplay is intense and exciting. The learning curve isnt all that steep either. I dont understand why you people hate it?

I knew when they took one of my favourite games ET and then added it to the quake world it was destined for failure.
I did however play both betas as i thought i'd give it a chance but it brings absolutely nothing new to the table. The graphics are average the gameplay is nothing compared to ET and i think they really should have put all the development into wolfenstein 2.
The competition from crysis and UT3 etc is really going to hurt sales i think. Not that it wont sell or anything but if a gamer had to choose one game from now until christmas i would doubt that ET:QW wars would top the list.

It does take a while to really get into it. I'm just a small bit sick of the demo map as I've been playing since Beta 1, and because the demo is available, all the servers are full of noobs again :p

It really is a great game.

Seriously where do people come up with this sort of crap?

please explain why you think the engine is dreadful?!

I think it's down to how it feels to play. The issue for most people probably won't be the visuals, as they do look good. It's just the way the player character handles in the engine, feels a bit too bouncy/like you're a floating torso. It's hard to describe what I mean but for me this is the problem with the game.
