Anyone else really not liking Fifa 08?

So i picked up the 360 version of fifa 08 on released excited as to what they have added this year. I am normally a huge fan of the fifa series and have allways found to be really fun. I am dismayed this year to just find so many things that frustrate me.

1. The cpu almost allways fouls you to get the ball. There are very few times that the cpu actually gets the ball. Most of the time they either make my player trip, blatantly push him or just plain go through his legs. does the ref care? Oh no.

2. Its sooooooooo sluggish. I can't put my finger on it but it is either the players have a touch like a donkey with boxing gloves on or the pitch and player dimensions are just to small. Its almost impossible to garner control of the ball like any half decent player.

3. What is wrong with the goalkeeper? Everytime he should be coming for the ball or i ask him to he looks like he is terrified to do anything and when he does he does it sooooooo slowly, and it normally ends up that the opposition gain the ball.

4. Age old fifa trick of players just magically going through each other.

5. The on rails through balls in which your recieving player just runs blindly to where the game has predicted the meet up point, all the while about 10 metres back one of the stupidly good opposition defenders has allready got it.

Sorry, i'm just venting as to how frustrating this game has been so far, and i am wondering whether anyone else feels the same way or i am just going mad!.

i do agree it is quite sluggish, but im stil enjoying it though. The only thing i dont like is the super keepers which are so hard to beat, i can score from close range from time to time, but sometimes i do really good powerful shots or volleys from outside the box, and they are heading right for the corner of post and going in, but the keeper gets to them every time, when they never would in real life.

Yeh that too.

I don't know, sometimes i enjoy it, but most of the time it just frustrates the crap out of me.I mean the controls and reactions of the players feel so slow. I have played it a lot but i can't seem to get any better against the seemingly cheating opposition.

I did'nt like the pro evo demo either:(

No football game for me this year it seems :o

Fifa 08 is a massive improvement on the rest in my opinion and I'm quite enjoying it but its miles behind pro evo. Having said that I have'nt played the new one yet.

frustrating, its infuriating. no lie, almost every game i play the AI scores a rubbish goal in the 89/90th minute almost without fail.

It seems the same again from FIFA this year. Nice looks, poor gameplay.

Why don't the two main football competitors listen to it's fans? EA and Konami what are you doing?

fifa08 wont even work with my 360pad(using on pc), every button tap happens twice, same with analogue movement lol...

The day before fifa 08 came out, i was round me mates playing fifa 07 with him. Now ive always been a pro evo fan meself, but after playing fifa 07 i thought it was the dogs danglies, and was definitly going to purchase fifa 08.

But i let me mate buy it 1st just to make sure lol, and im glad i did.

Its far slower then 07, and we could never score. Not because were crap, just because the keepers are super keepers and you score once every blue moon.

Maybe its just getting used to the new feel of it that is the problem - guess time will tell.

I have played it for hours to no avail. the defenders and keepers are just insanely good. Also i notice no difference between the defenders of division 2 morecombe or chelsea....

Its just kinda broken and not fun, in my opinion.

The only thing that gets on my nerves in the game is the through ball, I'm not sure if I'm missing something but 9 times out of 10, the ball goes no where near the player I expect the pass to go to.

For the most part, I think it's a good game (ps2).
Am enjoying the co-op mode in particular.
However, I was a little disappointed a few things were not added/fixed from the 07 version.
For example, the saving of team selections/formations in manager mode and the inclusion of a "link" to team management at half time.
The two biggest new features have left me a little cold too.
The right stick player switching doesn't seem to help too much and the new through balls doesn't seem to work too well either.
Still, as I say, I enjoy the game quite a bit :)

I don't really like online football games. I suppose i will just keep it to play local multiplayer ( i'll admit that is quite fun, not so hard!) and then see how pes 2008 turns out.

They have gone for realism over gameplay imo, im not a big gamer, i like to pic up a game, play it for 20 mins and sod off out, its seems all games are just not like that anymore, you need to be a uber gamer to be even half good at summat now:(

Agree with the comments on looks rather than gameplay. To be fair it is an improvement on the Fifa titles of the past, but like all games, it has its bad points.

It is sluggish, and it seems as if your playing the game at Serie A pace all the time. You cannot outrun a AI defender for love nor money, and that really is annoying. I can a fully fit and healthy Thierry Henry bursting through the defence last night and he was caught by David Weir of all people, now that was unlikely.

I also agree with the AI getting away with silly fouls, time after time I have got into the box, about to pull the trigger and the defender steals the ball off my feet from behind me, and the referee never gives a foul.

The keepers are super keepers, and thats frustrating, but it is better than having them a useless wastes of a jersey, and it gives me greater satisfaction scoring a wonder goal past one of them. Although I do agree, they do manage to make some insane saves, and also the defenders always seem to be in the right place at the right time to block your edge of the area shots.

That said, the AI is a little lost at times, I have lost count of the number of times that the AI has burst into my penalty area, then ran along the goal line out of the box, shaped to cross, then sprinted back in towards the 6 yard line, then turned back to do the same thing again before finally making the cross when the box is heavily guarded.

Also, EA havent addressed the issue where the AI always shoots into the corner when clean through on goal.
