Anyone else run Oblivion on a similar spec machine?

I used to run Oblivion on:

Pentium 3.4ghz
1.5 gigs ram
nvidia 6800GT

I had to put all the settings on low and run at 1024x768, it played ok, the odd jerk here and there, but overall it felt really slow to play which made aiming with m bow damn hard.

Does anyone else manage to play the game with similar specs to these, and if so do you use any mods at all?

struggles on mine too, everything is on default, no FSAA or anything... can get around 30 fps

not sure how your GFX card is to mine though, is that faster than mine ? or slower ? if slower, changing your GFX should make a big difference, you certainly have a fast CPU

I play it on a P4 3gig, 1 gig of RAM and an X850XT, running in on a Dell 2405 screen at about 1120x720 and it gets a bit jerky when I first walk into a town but other that that runs ok. certainly no probs aiming the bow. got a few mods, mainly one of the LOD mods and the expansions loaded as well.

I used to play it on a 6800GS, 2GB value RAM, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (@ stock).

I Don’t remember what res I had it on, either 1024x768 or 1280x1024 but I had it on medium/high (Shadows on grass was the only thing turned off I believe). The frame rate was playable in cities, in sewers and in some open areas. Where ever there was a field full of grass and AI though, it would drop to like 7-8fps.

The mouse seemed to lag a little bit, which was annoying.

I didn't really want to finish the game like that though, knowing that I had a new rig on the way. It could have been done though.

Incidentally, I never did finish it on this rig either

On my 3500+ amd64, 1gb and 6800gt it runs quite well at 1600x900 with most stuff on reasonably high and hdr, i found character shadows and grass off produced the biggest improvements all round for only minor graphical loss, also a few tweaks from that tweak guide link on this forum helped, it can occasionally slow slightly in certain situations but its never low enough to cause any bother.
