Anyone else support Newcastle?

The point of doing this is what exactly? we get Souness out and we are left in the same situation as last time where the club has nobody available thats worthwhile, and then have to appoint another waste of space manager. Best thing to do is see out the season and pick up a better quality guy then. :(

*peers into his crystal ball*

Souness 'parts company' with Newcastle at the end of the season with a large payoff. Owen goes to Liverpool for £12m to take him off the payroll, along with some other Souness signings to different clubs.

Sven-Goran Ericsson takes over the reigns and fails to grasp the Premiership, leaving the toon in a similar state to Souness.

av been ousting souness for over a year now lol.

a wouldn't mind sven as manager at least he would bring some stature to the club and help bring in some decent names instead of just random unexperianced ppl like souness has done.

How About Al Murray (Pub Landlord) or even my dog I think he'll do a better job. :D

Souness has not a clue how to manage a club, they should've left Robson alone.

Unexperienced people? Owen, Emre, Parker and Luque (who hasn't even been given a chance yet, judge him after he as played over 10 consecutive games at least)

Luque will turn out to be a great player once he gets used to the English game, he's rated by Mourinho, Real Madrid and most of Spain so he must be fairly good.

I agree with most people that Souness may not be perfect for the job but sacking him before the end of the season woulod be stupid unless you want a combined Shearer-Clark management team......

yeah theres always ppl that say owen etc and the names u mentioned, i was talking more about our shocking defense, the same area that newcastle have always sucked at for the last 5 years!

every1 no's we are an attacking based team but for gods sake some manager has to sort the defense out, i watched the FA cup game (sadly), and the commentator made the funniest comment in history when he said " and now heres boumsong the international", i was thinking what the hells he talking about. Boumsong the supposed french international got run ragged by some division2 (i think) winger, it was laughable.

av got the upmost respect for the lesser division teams but there players should not be able to run past an international player of a premiership club so easily.

baba and stevie carr are good full backs imo but our central defense is appaling.

Souness has to go with Bobby we couldn't defend but we could score, thats how we play football, now Souness has come in we still can't defend, and we can't score,

how ever bringing Solano back I was very pleased with, someone who can actually supply to Shearer/Owen, can't fault Scott Parker at all always 100% effort which is lacking from most of the team, Emre is another quality player but so far I can't rate Luque at all.

The defense is the main problem, I've never seen a back line with so little defensive ability.

Solano hasn't looked the player he once was with us yet , nor has he re-captured the form he showed at Villa.
His strength is his ability to whip balls into the box for Shearer and co from wide positions.
Souness does not play him as a winger , he plays him on the right hand side of a central midfield and is thus completely wasted.

Dont let the old dodgy Newcastle defense myth fool you , we have *only* conceeded 25 goals this season (5 more than 2nd placed Man Utd , for example) not great , but not as bad as most teams in the league.
The goals against collumn for Robson was never bad either and Keegans was superb - as Ive said , its a myth.

The chuckle brothers in the centre of defense are taking a lot of the flak for our under performance , the real worry should be where the goals are going to come from.
Even with Owen in the team the supply to the front men was almost non existant most of his goals he has fashioned for himself.
Thats what happens when the bloke in charge is tactically inept and this was proved again on Saturday with mind boggling substitutions.
"Thats the price on the ticket" as Souness would say.

I agree 100% with your Parker statement , he has carried our midfield for most of this season.

i did actually notice the other day looking at the timetable how many we hadn't conceeded and was surprised, but who cares tbh we get beaten 1-0 2-1 far to many times and it only takes 1 goal (duh) to beat a team.

what am saying is that yeah our defense isn't as bad on paper when u look at goals conceeded, and yet we are still 14th! only 7 points clear from relegation zone which for me isn't enough. looking at our lost 5 results in the league its frightening and we are fighting not to be relegated now as we have lost several games in a row that 2 losses for us and 2 wins for the other teams means where right in there.

on paper our defense isn't so bad, but there performances say otherwise and i dont wanna put our premiership status in there hands.

our next 5 games include

man city (2moro)
portsmouth
aston villa
everton
bolton

apart from bolton those other 4 shoudl ALL be wins! and need to be wins, there all teams that are where we are and if we lose more then 2 then god forbid.

looking at it, goals conceeded isn't too bad at all!! but to be honest I would put a lot of that down to Given, without him in goal I reckon that goals conceeded would be much higher, for £8.5million Boumsong is not pulling his weight or leading the back line, at times it's embarissing to watch our defense.

definately agreee on the lack of supply, partially down to lack of form, but mainly to Souness' tactically ineptness, how can you trust a man who (at Southampton) signed an unknown player after a recommendation from someone claming to be George Weah's cousin, simple as he is mediocure at best as a manager.

I've wanted souness out ever since he was appointed, Blackburn have just about recovered from his reign!
What I do think we should do is hold out till end of season because I fear if we sack him now we could just get someone rubbish and i genuinely fear relegation LOL.
Maybe in the summer we can get a really good manager like o'neil hitzfeld of whatever, highly doubt it with fat freddy as chairman.

It's a shame really. Souness hasn't done anything decent with Newcastle, but it's not all his fault! He's never had a full squad to choose from, I'd like to see what would happen with a full squad!
LOL please dont say that - thats his favourite excuse.
When he came to newcastle he said its the best group of players hes worked with, then a month or 2 ago he said the squad was rotted thats why he spent 60 odd million on players - Sir Bobby Robson with out worst team would outplay our best team with souness (theres a reason I put Sir Bobbys name in capitals and souness's not, hes not worth it!)

As an outsider looking in, Newcastle's problems defensively seem to be that there's a complete lack of any communication between the defenders. I rate Boumsong, he's been excellent at times, but he's made so many simple mistakes which could have been avoided with some communication with his defensive partner. Yes, he has been poor at times, but when you're slated all the time I think that's almost inevitable. If they had a true leader in defence alongside Boumsong, someone in the Tony Adams mould who could organise everyone, I'm sure the defence would instantly stop looking so vunerable.

agree with Davey, think Boumsong could also benefit from not having to cover the many mistakes of bramble, having to play as 1 & 1/2 players can't make life any easier.

sacking Sir Bobby was a huge mistake he might of made some questionable signings but he got the team to play, has souness got us into the semi's of the UEFA cup? he hasn't even got us into the UEFA cup, I was willign to give him a chance when he was appointed even though I didn't think he was right at all, now he's got to go simple as, bring in Claudio Ranieri I say :D
