Anyone else think Dishonoured 2 looked a bit naff?

Enjoying the gameplay, but the game seems to suffer badly from console-itis.

I've played with the settings, have it on ultra at present, and I've got the least blurry effect I can, but it doesn't look great.

It's like I can see the potential but it's hidden under a smeary mess.

Any tips?

I had to actually give up on the game because of the blurriness, gave me terrible headaches.

The original game had that kind of visuals highly stylised and works quite well though not everyone likes it - in the second game the engine (which is different to the first game) doesn't really pull it off quite as well and it can look a bit naff and low res at times :s

It is one reason I've not really picked up and played the game despite being a huge fan of the original game.

It didn't look blurry to me at all.
Something's going wrong for you.

I don't think so mate, no issues with any other games, fresh drivers, reinstalled. Plus it obviously drove th chap above you bonkers.

It's like an art style that's been applied that makes especially the more distant scenery look a bit crap.

Nice to know you had no issues with it though.

Didn't you see any footage of it before you bought it?
It has a consistent and coherent art style. That's what it offers, take it or leave it.

If the graphics give somebody 'terrible headaches' then yes I'd say the graphics are more important than the gameplay because they'll never get far enough to experience the gameplay.

I used sweetFX to alter the graphics to my liking. Not to say they were poor before hand, but I wasn't keen on some of the defaults

Yeah I absolutely loved the original and was pretty excited. I've enjoyed the game and finish it. I'm really starting to feel that these things are just a symptom of console bleed. :(

Yeah, I also found there to be a bit blurryness, mainly in the background. I fixed this with sweetfx, there's a guide for this problem on steam. Sorry, I can't say exactly where but I'm sure a google search will point you in the right direction. Didn't have a problem after that. I didn't have this issue at all with Death of the Outsider.

Try and get this sorted, it's a great game!

Edit: I fixed it with reshade not sweetfx... https://steamcommunity.com/app/403640/discussions/0/217691032427325489/

No it was on special, was well received and I thoroughly enjoyed the first one.

I'm posing to see others opinions on the art style, so thanks for sharing.

When you consider graphics more important than gameplay :V

I'm sad if that's what you took away from my post. As I said I'm enjoying it. I would prefer the graphics if they were much less smeary though.

I love the look, it's part of the appeal to me. As Rroff said, the original was the same. Another game that I love for the same reason is the last Bioshock.

I played through it twice and highly enjoyed it. Didn't notice a blur issue at all, was just stuck in the amazing gameplay it has. Each to there own :)

It's interesting that you mention these titles as they hold a special place in my heart too. To my eyes they share a style but look completely different.

Just for the record, Dishonoured 1 doesnt give me the blurriness, its literally only Dishonoured 2. I dont know if something changed in the engine they use but there is simply no doubting that I suffer a blurry effect in Dishonoured 2 which isnt present in the first game. Maybe its something to do with my settings (although I have tried changing them) , maybe its something to do with my Nvidia drivers (though I've tried several different driver versions) , maybe its something to do with my eyes. I dont know, the one thing I do know is that in Dishonoured 2, on my system, with my eyes, I get enough blurriness at mid-long distance that it gives me a headache and prevents me from playing the game.

I'll give that reshade that someone mentioned a go, as that seems to have removed the blurriness for them. Got to finish an absolute mass of other games first but its something for me to try down the road

I only played it on console but it looked like it was smeared with vaseline, still enjoyed the game though.

So glad I'm not the only one, for me it doesn't ruin it (I luckily don't get headaches from it, feel for you man, the mrs gets migraines) but I would most definitely prefer it without.

Can you let us know how you get on with reshader? I'm going to give it a go too.
