Am I alone in this?

it seems we've got all these fancy dual core chips, multi processor motherboards, sli and crossfire gpus but hard drives are still old tech and their capacities still seem quite small?

i do quite a bit of video editing and creating/editing of dvds and the space of my current 1.2tb system constantly gets full or near to.

And with the advent of HD with their huge files on the way im sure im not alone in wishing that i had multiple tb's space to use?

when is this hologprahic going to take off? any new hdd tech likely to come out soon or anything with big capacity (apart from tape)

lol Tb's your mad, you must be in the small minority to constantly have it filled up. i agree that hard drives are the crappest part in the system, i mean we have a 1.5Gb bandwidth from sata (or is it sata2?) yet we have barely any harddrives that hit 60MB+ constantly. In a way yes hard drives should be bigger, however you should clear out that system of yours tbh... also you can get 320GB+ drives, all you need is another 3 to get almost 1TB, however you'll lose probably near 100GB if you do.

am in the same boat i have 1.8tb and the .8 is just pictures dam RAW pics the rest is video and i still need more only prob is that there is no more space in my case and that my mobo has no more connections and yes its all backed up on disc god i hope these blu ray or hd machines do the trick :(

as far as im concerned blu-ray and hddvd seem like a pathetic jump forward now as far as storage go

that seems very futuristic and they state 'this summer for enterprise' so its really not that far offf bluray and hddvd and just look at that roadmap :)

I don't think that hard drives are too small for most people, I've got 600gb space currently and I fill about 2/3 of it however this includes storing quite a few films and mp3s so I don't know quite how typical this is. I'd imagine that with a few obvious exceptions, for normal usage you don't need all that much space. Lots of people still happily work with 120gb or less for all they do with their PC.
