Anyone else thinking picking up a console version of GTA brfore th PC release?

would have liked it on the pc but not going to wait....gaming on a big screen is fun but im useless with a gamepad when it comes to aiming

I preferred GTA3 and Vice City on PS2 as the control system suited the pads well, San Andreas was different though and I found it more enjoyable on the pc (freelook with mouse while driving was the main change I noticed).

No way I'm wasting this new one by playing it with a spazstick... hope the pc version isn't too long a wait.

the wait is going to kill me but i'm not buying a console just for one game. :p

I did.

I'm weak. :o

I had every GTA game on release day and then the PC version when that was out, and i couldn't break tradition so i bought a 360 a couple of months ago and pre-ordered GTAIV for release day. :D

Game of the decade tbqfhwy.

From what I heard this could be the best of the series especially since there is now a decent combat system. I would prefer to play this on PC but I am weak and do not think I can wait the extra month for it to be released after the console versions. I think I may buy it for the 360 and then sell it as soon as it releases on PC a month later.

you need murdering for making me think it came out a month after console on pc. I dont want to buya console but I may just have to. Might be a new phone contract jobby.

I'll be getting GTA on the 360 as I find it's more of a chill out on the sofa joypad game.

you know its the same price for a lead to plug the pc into a TV and its the same pad to plug into your pc as a console? personally Ill be playing it layed in bed though :D

Two posts stand out so far, first being someone saying GTA4 won't offer anything new so not interested. Thats a valid point if you didn't like the gameplay style of gta3 and its sequels but thats not what he said. Most games don't offer anything new, GTA3 and VC were really very good and if GTA4 is a new story and looks better and offers similar gameplay it should be a pretty good game. A good story with any decently enjoyable gameplay tends to be good, with a great story it could be great. We get like 1 original game a year, if that, a game doesn't have to offer something new to be good. Mass Effect is KOTOR 3 but different story and its fantastic.

As for the other post, it needs a gamepad to be good so will suck on the PC. Firstly, its not a realistic racing sim, its never had anything remotely close to realistic driving and frankly cursors do a more than fine job with driving. Infact in several years of playing these styles of games I've never once had an even remotely difficult time driving in these games with cursors, not to mention theres more options for steering wheels and gamepads on the PC than on the 360 or PS3. Maybe you should have a shout at Rockstar for not implementing incredibly easy control support in the first place.

Can't say for sure but no initial interest in multiplayer support at all. Can't stand most 360 games on multiplayer so far. Far more interested in the normal single player, hoping the story is really good and they haven't done anything stupid to gameplay mechanics to make it crappy. Thought the story and , well, most of San Andreas was utter crap. Even though the whole Mafia style crime stuff is very cliche, somehow the writing is decent in most of those games. Where it comes to ghetto style gang violence every damn word is a cliche, painful to hear, predictible and crap. Bunch of older white guys hearing 10 common slang words from the ghetto and repeating them every 8 seconds, seems to happen in so many films and tv crap and then SA. Hoping the move back to more familiar settings will give us a better story again.

Well, I'm getting it for my PS3 and I'll consider it for the PC when that time comes. Personally, I loved GTA:SA, I thought it was great fun - even the flying missions ;) - but I only had it on my PC.

16 player free-roam with voice! :D

Don't you just use your brothers 360 or something though, so you you'll have to fight him for access?
True. I almost bought one the other day solely for GTA:IV... But I resisted. But when you guys go on, I'll gain control of the 360. By any means necessary. ;)

I still may end up buying one though... Hmm. You've made me re-think my non-purchase. :p

But still, if I ever do get a chance to play with you and your friends, it will be impossibly awesome. :D

Off topic a bit, but no one would happen to have any idea how much I'd get for a Slimline PS2 on a part exchange do they? Thank you if anyone posts.

Meh, I'll wait for the PC version. It doesn't really matter how soon you play the game, as you play it eventually.

No game is worth buying a console over imo.

I done this with San Andreas on the PSpoo, and it just collected dust when I was done with it. I'm sorely tempted to go with a 360, but I'm older and wiser... I think. I should be able to hold out for the PC version.

I will be getting it for my PS3, I dont think I could really hold out that long, plus the thread in the console section would be too tempting not to enter, so no doubt I would see spoilers.

Real Time Worlds was started/is run by the one of the original GTA creators.

David Jones was the Founder of DMA Design, which became RockStar North. David Jones then founded Realtime Worlds in 2002. I'm not sure if he still owns both companies or not.

Depends how close you pc is to you av setup - mine's in a different room. The majority of my gaming mates will be getting it on the 360 anyways, so it's a no brainer.

Ive not owned a console since the original playstation, Ive currently got a pre-order of an Xbox360 Premium and GTAIV bundle.

As others have said, is sort of the tipping point for buying a console, they have always looked good, but never worth the money, now with GTAIV + past games that have gone down in price its finaly time to buy one :).

This game and Silent Hill 5 and the new Res Evil are the games that turned me into a console buyer this week ^_^ I will leave my PC for key titles like Alan Wake, Far Cry2, HL2 series and TF2 etc etc.
