I just downloaded it from MSDN, installed on a spare drive on my test server and am having a play on the Virtualization stuff.. looks pretty good so far, much faster than B3 so it seems. Gah where are those AMD quads to up the spec a bit :(

Click for bigger pictures, nothing too exciting though..
Basic info:

Showing the Virt stuff, including a 2003 Server R2 updating with SP2:

i've downloaded it but not installed it yet. you don't even have be a part of msdn. i got the public download links off neowin.

Fair enough but surely that's no better than illegal downloads (I didn't look thoroughly at the downloads so I presume they're not legal?).. and where do you get a valid (aka legal) key from?

I'm booting back to 2003 Server anyways, WSv is a bit of a dog and as yet doesn't like Linux VM's which is a major bane in my dev life.. oh well back to VMWare under 2003 :(

check the links. they go to microsoft... ;)

edit: and they even let scum bags off the street like me register to get a key. :p

Gonna have a play with this shortly, the virtual machine stuff looks the most interesting right now.

Is there much improvement to active directory and group policies over 2003?

Instant first thought on seeing those screen shots: "Oh great just what a server OS needs, aero......."

How are you planning to run it though it's paces? I'm considering using 2008 on one of our servers in our WebFarm at work, so I'll be doing my own evaluation soon mainly around database i/o & IIS 7 load testing.

So please Let us know how it goes :D
