Anyone ever built a shed?

I don't like sheds. They suck.

So so so true!

For the base put paving flags down on a dry mix of bedding sand and cement, then lightly wet the whole area. This is way I put my shed down and its still standing, and BTW I also work for building contractor.

If your looking for a quick 'n' easy way to do it get some regular 4 inch concrete blocks and lay them flat in a configuration that provides the base of the shed with enough support to stop the floor from flexing under load.

On top of each block put a bit of roofing felt with some thick polythene under it. and build the shed on top.

No damp and no uber hard labour for a poxy shed :D

Ive been thinking about getting a wooden shed, but recently Ive thought to myself, how about having a brick built shed? Surely the costs arent that much different and a brick built building is a lot more solid than a wooden construction? What are you thoughts?

its a lot more expensive unless u've got the materials.

u need

deeper foundations so more concrete and rubble to lay .
bricks
cement
wood
tar
roofing ashpalt

and time

a wooden shed can take less than an hour if theres two of you a brick one can take 2-3 weekends if you know *** your doing.

Concrete base would be best. I built a 12x8 from wood panels that were "free" when they tore down an old school.

Just remember to put the window in the right way round!

I would be hiring a professional to do the brick built shed. A wooden shed of the size and type that I would want is about £1500 (3m x 2m). Surely a brick built shed cant be much more than that?

This is what I did for my wooden shed, still standing 5 years later (except for the roof that needed replacing after a gale).

well if you getting proffessional to build it aswell then gonna cost more coz ** paying for labour 2 and must be pretty big shed for over a grand specially wooden?

My original idea was to get a really big shed, however, now I have scaled down my plans.

This is the basic shed layout:

price list:

As can be seen, a £1500 shed is mid range. The costliest is £4200 (28' x 14').
