Evening all,

Just looking into booking a few days away up near Stratford-upon-Avon and the Best Western hotel nearby are offering two double rooms for two nights with a cost of £84 per room. Seeming a little cheap I was wondering if anyone has experienced a hotel in the same line?

Cheers

Hmm, well being the cheapest and not looking terrible is good enough for me, besides I'll only be spending the night there, off wondering around for the rest of the time up there. If it is better than expected then it's a bonus.

Never seen Once Upon a Time in the West... Worth watching...?

I spent some time in a very nice Best Western in West London. I wasn't paying for the room, just the company .....

Absolutely worth watching.

I'll pick it up some time, cheers :D

As for the hotel it's looking the cheapest and therefore the most appealing so I think I'll just go for it and see how it turns out. Hopefully not too bad, cigarette smell I can put up with but much worse and I won't be staying there again!

Stayed in one in France - was fairly average and the breakfast was a rip off... company paid for it all so not fussed but if I'd booked it myself I'd be a bit miffed.

There was a TV show about Best Western when the boss goes undercover to some hotels and checks out what is going on. I believe most of them are just a massive PR excercise but i remember the best western one rather well becuase they were moving furniture around beucase they either didnt have enough or most of it was damaged. They dude in charge just couldnt believe what was going on and held a meeting with upper management and stuff and everything was reviewed. I am always of the view that if you are not happy then you should complain and see what they can do but I would imagine most of them are ok to get your head down after a few largers.

I stayed in the one in Vancouver for a night, the hotel itself was pretty uninspiring but the rooms were nice and the bed was comfortable.

Considering the it was free (BA were paying) I certainly couldn't complain.

They're fine as far as chain hotels go. Maybe a bit more towards 'classic' decore than modern but no worse than the likes of Holiday Inn etc. I certainly wouldn't have a problem staying in one.

I saw an advert today on TV that says you get free shortbread or something, can't be bad.

Stayed in one in Arran on a uni trip last year. It was a real mix; some of the rooms were lovely, some were horrid. I think the horrid ones were designed for educational trips and the others were normal hotel rooms. Luckily got one of the nice family suits for 4 of us :D
