Anyone explain ATI & NVidia fanboys?

You think they could have release cards based on 80 or 90nm with the full original feature set without a huge increase in cost in both hardware and software development? let alone enough increases in the hardware technology to implement many of the features with any meaningful performance... 3x figure is an approximation but thats roughly how much extra the cards would have cost to the end user... for features we wouldn't even be seeing in use now.

The sad thing is physx is used allot more then DX10.1, I don't rate physx either but at least more games make use of it.

Will you PLEASE learn the correct usage of 'then'. You're doing it wrong.

The word you're looking for is THAN.

More talk with out links to back it up.
Your repeating your self with out the links of cost involved so i will ask you again for the links.

You are giving the cost as the reason when you have no links that NV said this was the reason.

Your on the wrong forum then, this is not jackanory.
And that was not a question but a statement you made up about the costs.

I never made a statement it was a figure of speech, get over yourself.

I could have said it would have cost twice as much, whatever... do you really think they could have implemented all that on a ~80nm process without a huge increase in costs?

I don't have to get over anything, there is no reason why the un dumb down DX10 should cost substantially more than what is expected with new tech than the other DXs before it.
That fact is ATI have implemented the features on the same process that still cost less then the NV chips with out them, so even as a figure of speech your comment is totally flawed.

From what i understand is dx11/10.1 is a subset of dx10 so when dx11 games come out they use the highest dx which the chip can handle 10,10.1 or 11 so when you got a dx11 game, ati will run it on 10.1 and nvidia would run it on 10 until the new mobiles chips are out.

I like nvidia cards but their drivers are not god like, like some people would have you belive, the 190 cannot work on my hdtv god knows how times they broken the drivers for hdtv at moment when i resize my screen it default back to 1920 x1080 or what ever and not 1360 x 768 which i want.
I do think ati need someone like bgf, then i be happy i will go for ati this time around and if i have hastle i will **** them off just like i have about nvidia.

Subset are the lower & only DX10.1 can really benefit from DX11 codepath hence why NV have some DX10.1 GPUs in the works until there DX11 GPUs are out.
So as we can all see DX10.1 what DX10 should have been in the first place was more important all along.

[all im gonna say is does it really matter???

also if NV didn't stop dx10.1 & if they used it in they cards then we would seen dx dx10.1 more in games.

dx10.1 is the bases of dx11.

Yes that makes DX10.1 a subset of DX11.

It does not really matter as things stand now, but the facts need to be keep straight.

Vauxhall - Ford

Mars - Snickers

Scania - DAF

AMD - Intel

ATI - Nvidia

Just another of many.....

FWIW I have both ATI and Nvidia cards in my machines.

Undumbed down DX10 does not equal DX10.1.

Regardless of what it equals in your eyes does not take away the fact that you made up figures out of thin air based on thin air & that ATI have has DX10.1 on the processes that you say are to costly, anything before 40nm.
And all of this to suite your making up of an excuse for NV that did not exist.

No, it doesn’t matter, but that's never stopped users arguing over equalling stupid things and they will no doubt be doing it again. Most people don't care, but the fanboys especially seem to love it.

Oh well, looking forward to HD5870, hopefully it will provide higher performance then a 4870X2.

Haha so true :D
looking forward to the release of nVidia 300s as well so everyone can go over this all again, but with numbers :p
