Anyone familiar with Bromsgrove?

I live in Studley (very near Redditch) and central Redditch is a bit of a hole compared to Bromsgrove. That's being kind.

Alcester nearby is a nice village with a couple of smart new estates being built, might be a but sleepy for you though coming from London!

Just did my motorbike test in and around Bromsgrove so I saw a lot of streets. It seemed fairly pleasant.

Ive only seen Bromsgrove and a tiny bit of Redditch. I left the hotel for a pizza last night and asked the pizza place what people do on nights out, his reply was "Wetherspoons" which came across as that being the only thing to do when you want a night out. The place was dead as a doornail at 9pm on a Friday too, I like a bit more hustle and bustle than that.

I've been chatting to my wife about this for the last few hours and she's also keen to get out of London, I only mentioned Broms because it's the only place I've seen around here which looks nice (excluding Redditch, haven't seen enough of tjat to pass judgement though).

We might extend our hotel for a day just to cruise around and see what the surrounding areas are like, what other towns would you suggest looking at?

Depending on how much you are looking to spend, i would look at places like Callow hill, Barnt Green, Astwood Bank, Bentley but that is a very expensive area to live.

Where i live atm, i have been looking at my first house but have said it won't be in redditch as i am not a fan of the area.

If you chose Bentley, you'll be paying upwards of £300k for a 2 bed house, Barnt green is another expensive area to live but it really is a lovely place to be.

Surely, moving out of London does not mean you have to move to the west Midlands? Essex and Sussex are nice and still commutable to London

Bromsgrove isn't a bad area

you do get some bad parts/good parts like any other place but generally its decent

Atleast around here Wetherspoons is usually where people meet up sort of 7-9pm have a couple of drinks before heading out to wherever they'll spend the rest of the night.
