Anyone fancy physically assembling a PC for me??

Some of our systems work out the same price assembled as just the components / sometimes fall a little under on occasion.

You also get phone support and a collection warranty to back you up if there is trouble.

Pics or it doesn't happen. :p

OK, OK, OK!!!!

I'm beginning to feel ganged up on!! ;)

I'll seriously consider having a go... unless someone happens to come along before the bits arrive! :D

When are your bits arriving? What bits are arriving?

Very true - but you don't offer a system quite close enough to the one I want, at a price close enough to what I can buy the parts for.

Your offer systems are very good value and the other advantage is 6% off the whole system, not just the 6 most expensive components - but your cheapest offer is still quite a bit more than I'm currently looking at spending.

The "Titan Accelerator" Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz @ 3.00GHz+ DDR2 System is probably closest - but I really want the P5Q Pro board and don't want to spend money on Blu-Ray....

Shame you can't offer some sort of "you spec it and we'll build it for you" service.

I know there is the PC configurator - but the options are just too limited.

I haven't ordered yet - but intend to while 6% offer is still on...

Current thoughts on 'bits':

But also note the P5Q Pro is currently out of stock...

I'm off work next week and could pop over if no one closer to you offers to help, so long as you have the components of course.

Perhaps you could put a system like my spec above into next the new offers on Wednesday....!! :D;)

Seriously?? That might be the best of both worlds for me. Where are you based?

My office is in Birmingham - but this might actually be the best place to do it anyway. I live near Pershore.

I've just added an email address to my profile...

There is nothing to it.

I took the plunge last month and was done and dusted in an hour or two. Its all most likely in the mainboard manual anyway. My Asus P5Q one guided me through absolutely every step via nice big pictures.

Drop the PSU into place
Screw the mainboard into place
RAM into DIMM sockets
20/24 pin PSU connector to mainboard socket
Power/reset plugs to mainboard
CPU into cpu socket
Thermal paste to the cpu
Heatsink slotted into place
Fans into mainboard/psu
Optical drive to sata/psu
Hard drive to sata/psu
Graphic card to mainboard/psu

And that's it :D

That really is it! Sounds vague as hell but ask anyone who knows and they'll tell you the same.

i'm in coventry, i might be able to pop over to birmingham on a friday/weekend and do it for you :)

im in the same boat well my boy is 2ys old and i know how you feel about time ect i was a first builder and found it a doodle really hardest part was what parts would be best. the build even tho it took me a day was fairly straight forward, when the time comes i defo build again like most said here take ya time do a little each day and by end of week you got it built, most who rush it have problems with it i took my time and it worked straight away pitty your not living in nottingham i would have helped you no problem and theres always forum if you get stuck.good luck and take your time it will be worth it.

heres my thread on my build with pics so at least you get the idea

Put that way, it doesn't sound too bad!

But what about BIOS settings etc etc?

If you aren't overclocking, there's very little you need to do. I just disabled the floppy drive (As there wasn't one), on-board sound (It interfeared with my soundcard), and turned on the 'memory remap' option, so that windows could use all 4Gb of ram. Only the last one of these would be needed for you.

I would build it for you, I live in burton on trent, I used to work for ocuk building etc, so have built a vast amount and large array of systems.

Thanks all - I thought I'd posted here earlier today, but my post isn't here now!

I think I'm going to give it a go myself....!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

At least I'll have a go - if I get horribly stuck - I might come back to some of you who have been so kind as to offer help! ;)

My main concerns are not knowing which slots and cables to use (see rick's post) to get the best performance. Not setting up the BIOS etc correctly...

But hopefully - those are problems that can be worked through!!

Thanks everyone for your encouragement! :)

You'll probably find that the most time-consuming & trickiest part is arranging all your cables neatly inside the case. You can spend hours doing that :D
Just make sure nothing is gonna catch in your cpu/gpu fans and leave the fancy cable-hiding techniques till your next build.

you be ok mate just tale your time and everything will fall into place and it only goes in one way if in doubt post a pic with what your stuck with and we will help you out happy building.glad you had a look at my thread it helps i think

IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!

Before screwing the motherboard down, screw in the little standoffs into the case first. These elevate your motherboard off the case internal panel, as if they didn't the whole thing would short out, blow up, and probably take the entire country with you ;)

Otherwise just take it slowly, set aside enough time and space (take over the womans space is usually best as they awlways steal space), then get on with it. Just double check things, make sure cables are connected properly, and ask us for advice if needed.

I had my 1st pc built for me, over the next year I bought new bits and tweaked, the following year I had built my own system, had an overclockable mobile athlon CPU with a specific manufacturing date selected, and super overclockable bh-5 ram. So in the space of a year I had moved on from being a noobie to a proficient builder and overclocker.

Now I am pretty damn good at fault finding and guessing what has gone wrong.
