Mikeymike has one which really doesn't do well with the SMP client - he can't overclock it though as it's a business machine and doesn't allow for that, might not be so bad if clocked highly but those large cache SMP WUs will still suffer I'd think
Over the life of a machine, the cost of the hardware is vastly overshadowed by the running costs - I'd definitely go for the best chip I could afford as an extra £50-£100 now could mean 2x-4x the output for the whole time of owning it.
@ITR: Ah, good, you're back. Been on holiday? I thought we'd lost you when my competition prize ended and your output didn't start again. Thanks again for the boost.
Yeah in my short experience of only one WU, and it was a harsh WU, plus default clocks, it was not a good result for me
But obviously if your going to OC to 3ghz I'm sure you would get a massive boost compared to what i was getting @ 1.6ghz, still, I'd be much happier going for atleast a 4xxx instead, i think a 4200 is ~£30 more than a 2140?
I've been away for a week, and the plan was to buy a few more quads for the home farm... but i couldn't resist buying a new tv, so am now the proud owner of a 42" Tosh 1080p lcd.
So, the folding rigs are in a bit of a state at the mo, as i've used some bits out of two of them to build a media centre, so im only folding on the quad at the mo. (lost the 2140, the e6600 and the x1950) but hopefully should be back upto speed over the next month
