Reason I ask is I would like to follow the season and some how watch as many games as I can, do they show it on any TV channels at all ?

Also does it work like are football league everyone plays each other twice ? 3 points for a win 1 for a draw ?

Sorry am really new to it, so I apologize for my thickness !!

You will be able to find it on espn normally between 1am and 3am. They don't have a scoring system, the leagues are decided by the most wins/least losses.

I follow it as do a few others on here but it never amounts to much in terms of threads :(

TV Channels I don't know about but I do know you can subscribe online via NBA.com and get it via League Pass for about £100/year which seems alright to me given the quality + number of games.

As for how it works:

2 conferences: East and West
6 divisions: Northwest, Pacific, Southwest, Central, Atlantic and Southeast

Each conference is made up of 15 teams split into 3 lots of 5 divisions.

wiki said:
During the regular season, each team plays 82 games, 41 each home and away. A team faces opponents in its own division four times a year (16 games). Each team plays six of the teams from the other two divisions in its conference four times (24 games), and the remaining four teams three times (12 games). Finally, each team plays all the teams in the other conference twice apiece (30 games).

or 82 games if you can't keep up with all that!

Wins/Losses as posted by [Cas] is correct too. Last seasons best team had a record of 62 - 20 Wins/Losses which gained them top seed for the playoffs and home court advantage throughout the post season.

That should be info to get you started at least :p

nightrider1470, I wouldnt pin your hopes to high on getting the chance to watch the NBA this season, or ever for that matter, the NBA lockout out is still going on without any sign of players or the owners backing down. At the moment the owners are not even letting the players train at there respective teams, so most are using the GYM like the average Joe or signing contracts to play in Europe and Asia while the lockout is on. Dereck Fisher did send out a text recently to some players saying to keep fit so there is some optimism around the NBA starting up but if i was you id maybe check out afew other leagues in the mean time just incase.

Nah talks broke down again apparently.

Slight good news though is that Chinese leagues will not allow opt-out clauses should the lockout end. If Euro teams would do the same then that would severely limit players options!

As for the lockout whilst I think the initial reported demands of the owners were perhaps a little unrealistic I really do believe the ball is the players hands so to speak. From what I can tell they are the greedy ones....

22 out of 30 teams losing on average 200 million per season isn't healthy when the economy is good let alone in its current state...

I kind of agree it not all down to the owners however, there is a lot of the lockout details that are being kept from the pubic eye and the owners aren't even allowed to talk to or mention the lockout or players, say players names etc (thats no joke, Micheal Jordan, the owner of the Bobcats, was fined $100k for talking about Andrew Bogut), so there is still huge amounts of speculation around. Also the players have already promised to cut their profit shares and David Stern has said he's optimistic about getting a deal done soon, but only on the condition that the players stop disagreeing with him (pretty much).

I think a lot of the guys in the NBA could benefit from European Ball if they decide to play here anyway, its a very different game, as in Asia too. If this does go through the courts its easily gonna wipe out the next 2 seasons.

Rumours of the players decertifying as well now

Surely a vote of no confidence in Billy Hunter would be more effective? Replace the negotiator with someone new?

Such a shame. I Started watching the NBA for the 2nd half of last season. I get ESPN and the coverage is great.

I apodted the Denver Nuggests and allthough they struggled in the playoffs the whole playoffs section was brilliant to watch.

Ended up cheering on the Mavs for the final. Some of the players are just rediculously good!
