I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow morning for a course.
I was planning on using a park and ride - either the tram from 'The Forest' or bus from 'Colwick Racecourse'. The tram sounds better and is cheaper.

I've just been told though that The Forest isn't a very good area...Is it worth staying away from if I'm leaving my car?

Any advice would be great :)
thanks

The Forest car park is fine, it's always busy in the day and covered by CCTV. Parked there bazillions of times, no bother.

The Forest is on the edge of a rough area but your car should be fine there

If you are coming from Stratford though the park and ride at Phoenix park or Queen's Drive be better

Every time I've seen the tram it's been packed, try and avoid it :p

You could always park in the center maybe?

Victoria Centre
Up to 2 hours £2.50
3 hours £3.50
4 hours £4.50
5 hours £8.00
6 hours £9.00
7 hours £13.00
8 hours £14.00
8 to 24 hours £15.00
Shoppers special. Enter after 10am, leave before 6pm £5.00

thanks for the replies.

Phoenix looks good, or Wilkinson Street. Last time I went off at J24 down the A453 (i think) and parked in the City centre but at £9.50 a day I've decided against that this time. The roads were very busy going up to and past Queen's drive. Also I'm guessing the tram times and more reliable than buses + no traffic to get caught in.

I plan to get the tram at about 7:45 - 8:00.

Wilkinson Street is huuuuuuuuge (that's the trams HQ) so for £2.40 unlimited travel (or £2.50 for buses too) it sounds like your best bet. Wilkinson Street, however, is sandwiched between Hyson Green and Basford, but your car will be safe in that car park no worries.

Be prepared for a packed tram, although at 7.45 it shouldn't be too busy. I used to get the tram from there daily at ~8am and it wasn't too busy.

Where do you need to be exactly? There are some alternatives. Don't write off our bus service, it was voted best bus service last year and the city centre service is second to none :D In my experience, of course :p

It is your opinion of course but Nottingham Bus Service best in Britain? Are you having a giraffe?

Trams are very good and do generally run on time so don't be late. :p

According to whatever survey was conducted last year (edit - year before), it was all over the city. I use the bus service daily (used to use the Leicester one) and apart from yesterday (the first in two years) a bus hasn't been late. Of course, this maybe limited to the buses I use, but I'm sure they must have been good to be crowned:

granted, that was 2004 ;)
