tbh they are bringing the film out 4 or 5 years too late, they've lost all their good writers and directors and the replacements for them are just trying to copy the older 'golden age' of the simpsons which just isn't working.

havn't seen the film but i think it will only be good at the most
This is wrong - the old writers were brought back to write for this film.

Saw it, well worth the price of admission. Very funny. Stay through the credits!
Didn't encounter a Futurama reference though...anyone enlighten me?

Went expecting it to be fairly poor and while it was better than expected, it wasn't great.

I thought it really showed why the episodes work so well in 20 minute stints, this felt too long really. In fact, much of the film could have been squeezed into a double part episode to be honest.

The animation has changed too much for my liking aswell, it was very Futurama-esque, with the oddly computer looking 3D ness to it, rather than the simple cartoon that the simpsons always was.

Damn, right after I bought the Futurama box set (Seasons 1-4) :o

Matt is a legend though, have to respect his work rate!

Loved it to bits.
Was a little bit worried as the first half an hour came to a close...could they keep it funny...yup.
Next time I time checked and then the final credits started rolling.

It was funny, some great sequences, funny from the moment Ralph started singing the Fox theme tune to the "extras" through the end credits.
Well worth admission and I shall look forward to the DVD release.

There were some amusing moments, but overall it didn't seem to be raising that many laughs at the screening we attended (1320 Wed, Shaw Ridge Swindon). In fact, only me and the missus chuckling most of the time. There were some good references, in-jokes and life-jokes particularly the comments Homer was making outside the church, which were being overheard by the congregation.

It was certainly more than an 80 min extended TV episode but just lacked that little spark to make it really special. Maybe they wanted to stay as faithful as possible to the show (and a PG rating) rather than spice it up like the South Park movie or Family Guy TV movie did. I guess one problem is that the show has been around so long and with recent new episodes starting to lose the edge, it's all been done before. Many of the ideas and plot turns seemed to borrow from the series.

Nevertheless it was harmless and enjoyable entertainment and can recommend anyone who likes the show to go and see it. Just think *** 3 star rather than ***** five star and you won't be disappointed. Will certainly be buying the DVD or hopefully Blu-Ray when it comes out and hopefully there will be a sequel.

I'm hoping this isn't like all animated show-to-movie adaptions, it doesn't happen to play it safe + mildly amusing with all the jokes does it? :(

Er its a PG, if it helps I spend most of the time with tears in my eyes from laughing so hard throughout it.

No, but it's a far wittier programme, with subversive adult humour a plenty
If by wittier you mean recycle the same jokes every episode about how something is ironically different in the future, then yes.
