Anyone got a Line6 Toneport yet?

I still haven't had one yet but I will.

I have a POD and a Guitarport and most will agree that they are excellent studio devices (but not stage use).
The Toneport must be even better.
I assume you've listened to the demos on the Line6 site?

Now some may notice that my lead guitarist uses a Line6 POD rack but just to defend my above 'not for stage use' comment he has the Line6 on a basic non effect heavy sound and whacks it through Marshall valves into speakers either side of the stage.

I've got one, the UX2 model, and I love it. My sound clip for dmpoole's guitar warriors page was recorded on my Toneport, with an Ibanez RG550 guitar, using the supplied recording software. I did all 3 guitar parts (2 rhythm, 1 lead) through the Toneport on that guitar. It's great, it has such a range of sounds. If you want me to record any specific sounds for you, let me know. :)

Good advice guys... from what I have seen with Line6 they get good tones quite easily although I am not sure how good they would be at getting weird and interesting tones...

basically I am looking for something to get good guitar tones from - if you compare my entry to Locrians mine sounds poorly recorded, at least the lead guitar does whereas the rest is reasonably recorded...

Locrian uses a POD XT and I am thinking - go Line6... and listening to Ttz it might be a decent idea.
I don't like the idea of attaching it to my comp only to be controlled by the computer and go into my other soundcard, but its probably easier than getting a decent tone out of the software I am using now...

*falls off chair laughing*

Wierd and interesting tones? You should hear what I'm fooling about with right now. I'll see if I can get a decent recording done. ;)

ttz - any luck with recording some tones yet? Also, would you explain the process you have to go through to record and what your setup is...

Damnit, sorry, I didn't see this bit. Sorry mate, otherwise I would have done it sooner...perhaps. I'm out of action for a few days (again) but I probably could have stuck something online for you. :o

But congrats on getting it, it's a great little thing. :p

My housemate has one, i tried installing it on my laptop and it messed up my audio programs :D

Any new intallation can do that... I am running it as a standalone unit controlled by the computer and connected analog to my other soundcard (I dont trust it to take over ASIO with cubase)

I dont really get the whole ASIO thing

I have a creative mp3+ external USB soundcard, and it doesn't require ASIO drivers... i get no noticable latency when recording.

Then in the summer i bought a creative live! 24bit USB external (from ocuK)... thinking this card would be better than the mp3+... i got terrible latency, tried various ASIO drivers etc...

In the end i just sent it back to OCUK

Get yourself an M-Audio 2496... ASIO is very useful for latency and effects and such... it is generally used in sequencers such as Cubase

I don't even know the difference between ASIO and the other input modes of the Toneport, but they all seem to work fine for me. :p

I use a laptop so i need an external sound card :/

Also i dont think my firewire port provides power to firewire devices (cause my ipod docking station doesnt charge my ipod when plugged into firewire)

If the Toneport is the same setup as the Guitarport then it uses USB and the Toneport comes with its own sequencing software. Really is worth a look.
Theres some demos on the Line 6 site of what people have done with the Toneport -
