Anyone got a recent x2 3800 from ocuk ?

Been mulling over getting one of these 3800's since the price drop, but wondered what difference the AMD dualie optimizer makes to gaming? Would it be much different to my 3200 venice once i get a new gfx card? Cant find any reviews using them?

those look like the type of programs that will use both cores to me (encode type) which is what he said in post #12 they will be quite a bit faster
Fair enough, I only picked them because I thought they would only utilise a single core. But you probally know more than I do.

because then you gotta upgrade the motherboard and RAM as well maybe? Starts to get expensive

Sorry to break the news but you can't live on Skt939 forever :p

Got to upgrade your mobo and RAM at some point.

But it doesn't have to be now. I still have a SocketA system which is plenty fast enough for what it needs to do.

Yes the 2nd line is the stepping.

Mine is:

LDBFE 0622WPMW

Let's see what this baby can do.

I'm very interested to see how these X2s perform (though as they'll come from different batches I doubt that we'd be able to draw any conclusions about how good they are generally). I just overlooked getting a X2 3800 for a opty 170 (at £70 more) and I'm hoping i made the right choice. If people start clocking these to 3ghz+ on air though, I think i'll be more than a little bit bitter.

Got mine today

LDBFE 0623 XPMW

Installed, but had a few expected problems - running TV card and browsing web resulted in stuttering sound. Installed Dual Core Optimiser, and everything is perfect!

Will push it a little today - not sure if my cooler (Original Freezer 64) will be up to the task as on default the CPU is recording 53 deg C - higher than my clocked Venice ever got! Mind... im encoding a movie using NeroVision whilst watching TV on my Freeview card! And its 33 degC here in my flat! Not the best day for overclocking I guess.

Curiously, Nerovision (from Nero 7) is only using 70-75% CPU power (1 core @ 100%, the other @ 50%).

Bit disappointed with my chip so far, though it's early days yet. I've let it as per the sig for now. I'll give it a week to settle in and then try and get the bugger a little higher.

Hi got my x2 3800 today, stepping is LDBFE 0623WPEW. Got it stable so far at 9x300 1:1 with ram @ 2.5-4-4-7 using a arctic freezer pro cooler. Just been playing around with it past hour.

Still early days yet, so plenty of tweaking to do.

That's a pretty decent result for a first pull. How does it perform around the desktop, or with applications ?

What stepping have you got?
