Anyone got a Roomba?

http://www.irobot.com/

They look great and I'd love one. Does anyone have one and are they actually any good though? I really like the idea of not having to hoover anymore! :p Wonder if I can pursuade Cliff to buy me one? :p

Do you still have to empty it? It would be great if it had a base pad that also acted as a bin. That way you just press the button then when it's complete it's rounds it makes a noise so the bin can be emptied.

Absolutely, if I though that would be the case I'd get one! As for now though, migrant workers are cheaper :p

Over a few months it can't be cheaper to have a cleaner hoovering surely? I had a cleaner for a while during my last pregnancy when I was on bedrest due to complications (waters broke at about 21 weeks) and she came once a week for basic things but even over the months we had her it was more than the cost of one of these. Of course she did some more than hoover but I can do the rest all myself again now quite quickly.

The thing putting me off is my baby has just started walking and has been crawling for months and is really quick so I think he'd chase it :p Wouldn't want him grabbing it :p Saying that my 3 year old would probably do the same :D

We had one for a while, bought from America. For our little flat we had it was ace. It would hoover when we were out at work and when we got home, emptied the little dust bin and job done. If you have pets then can struggle (the older ones anyway, the new ones I don't know what they're like) due to the amount of hair. If you have a tidy small place then it's great. If you have kids or pets then it will struggle or get caught in wires etc.

We will be getting another when we move again, the one we had we gave to the fiancees mum. :(

EDIT: If you have kids or pets, if it's pulled off the floor it shuts off for safety so there's no problems with kids or pets getting injured. The unit is also robust so unless you have a dog with big teeth I wouldn't worry about damaging it.

We had one of these delivered today (560 model), only seen it in action for 5-10mins but what a cool gadget. Seems to work very well so hopefully no more hoovering...ever! :D
