anyone got access to valuation stuff?

What Car do seem to overvalue much like Parkers. When Vauxhall used glass's as their online valuation tool, it was bang on with the glass's site and book. Out of the three trade values, the lowest trade value was what you could expect from most dealers unless you haggled hard. Selling privately doesn’t seem to afford much more than the dealers offer unless you have a very desirable and/or easy to sell car like your typical mundane family hatch with low running costs.

At this end of the market, sub 2-3K the majority of people want affordable motoring so as long as it is a good runner and not too high on the insurance and running costs you can get a good value for a car.

When we got my wife’s C3 a couple of years ago (1.6 Exclusive Sensodrive 2003) the seller (private) had had it up for weeks following the parkers/what car valuation. It had low mileage, years MOT, new tyres, all in good nick, FSH and we got it £1k less than his initial asking price. Just not desirable as quite a high insurance group (11) for what it is. As it was, it only costs £260 per year for my wife. On auto trader, there were only a couple of private ones for sale in this spec, but loads of the 1.1 or 1.4. Even the dealers had the same spec car for more than the seller was originally asking.

Who has the worst depreciation?

Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 1.7 CDTi 110 ecoFLEX Club 5dr 2009 (09) 31,000 miles
Dealer £7,260
Private £6,315
Part exchange £6,190
Trade £5,890
Cost new £18,745

I would've gone for something else, but for the fact that I don't have a company car allowance and was only given to me because of where I currently work. How can that make financial sense? Only had it 18 months and it's lost over £12k.

I had a twin top 1.8vvt on a 2008 plate which lost 15k over 3 years. Was gutted.
