Right i am going to upgrade my 3g to an iPone 4. I currently have a simplicity tariff with unlimited data but have been told all contracts will go to the 500mb rate from October 10.
I called in at the 3 store today and they are offering a 16G iPhone 4 for 99£ outlay and 30£ a month for 500 mins 5000 txt and 1gb data. this looks like a good deal. I have a couple of questions..

How good is 3? i was with them about 7 years ago and their customer service and network was terrible.

Is their 3G signal reception good? i have heard good things recently.

Anyone on here on that tarrif? any problems/experiences?

cheers

Hi, iPhone 4 three owner here. I went for the 32gb £30 a month option. Had the phone since the 27th and had no problems other than the current app store issues over 3G which is due to be resolved from tomorrow onwards.

have you had any network problems? have any calls dropped? is your 3G coverage good?

sorry for all the questions

Same as Turbo-G

The network is great. But its ultimately down to where you live! Check the maps. They use Orange for 2G and by the end of the year the Orange/T-mobile/Three 3G network will be one and the same and also the biggest in the UK.

Rang up to get my number transferred. Had to repeat it 3 times down the phone before he got it right, but then its the same in any call centre.

Im on 3 and get decent signal/speed around here(Worthing, Sussex), no dropped calls. Also no problems with app store so far.

the other thing putting me off is hearing how bad the call centres are.

are you guys please so far or wish you could go back to o2?

I'm pleased so far. But to insure that my wife and I have signal at work, home and in general in our area, I bought cheap 3 pay as you go phone and tried it out for couple of days.
I just hope I will never need to call customer support :D

I have an iphone 4 on 3 and find it to be really really good coverage wise.

Very surprised in fact.

I had a 3g dongle a couple of years ago on 3, had lots of disconnects despite being in one of the best covered areas for 3G access, Birmingham Airport.

I ended up canceling it so I was a little weary when I got this but I am very satisfied with the network.

The app store issue is no biggy, a fix will be here very soon. Besides, how often will you need to download apps whilst away from wi-fi? Most downloads are fine anyway, you just occasionally get a page with source code on it rather than the buy/install app screen.

I was with 3 once and the whole experience was horrible. They sent me another phone I didn't want, put me in a 2 year contract, then were unreachable. To say customer service is non existent would not be an overstatement - I have pages of noted records I made of trying to reach them. In the end I just paid it off rather than risk getting credit blacklisted. I would avoid them at all possible costs if I were you!

is that a recent experience or an old one?

i had the same opinion about six years ago but have since been told they ae much better.

i am tempted as the plans for the iPhone 4 are much better than o2 etc..

Had one since they were released on 3. Not had any issues with the appstore yet, only time i've had issues with the call centres has been when they try to push you into a bad upgrade, but you can dodge that by going to the shop if need be.

This must have been years ago, as although they use offshore call centres I'm never in a queue for longer than a few mins it seems.

i've upgraded to a Iphone 4 on my current 3 contract.

But got to wait 6 ****** WEEKS for it , as they on back in Apple, apparently !!

Gutted

AVOID

I regret signing up to Three. I'm forever loosing my internet connection despite the fact I'm based in London. The delay between switching from 3G (3 network) and 2G (Orange) is slow and whether or not I get an internet connection depends on my phones mood. Customer service is pretty poor as well.

The worst part is 3 filter any websites they deem inappropriate (Violence, sexual nature etc) and you can't turn the filtering off, even if you're over 18. You have to pay £5 a month to turn the filtering off. FAIL.
