Anyone got any pictures comparing 30FPS to 60FPS

Yes for now as i say, but not for much longer.

Thanks The Real Deal, i was thinking about the 5850, but don't seem to be much talk about them at moment. All talk is about the 5870.

Oh dear, sorry. I didn't read it properly.

You will get the details of the 5850/70 tomorrow. Or today because it's 1am :p

......As you can see the 60 FPS picture looks a lot better and smoother.

Go to gamersyde, they have vids of 60 fps videos and 30 fps

Check the first vid, it's at 60 fps

http://www.gamersyde.com/news_more_forza_3_-8531_en.html

the other vids are at 30 fps, the difference is noticeable

Thanks for that, unless im mentally trying to think i notice a difference. I do notice a big difference. Video 1 the colours & image are much brighter & sharper and just look very clean & clear. Whilst on the others it's less clear & not as bright.

Kind of makes my mind up to pay the extra. Thanks:)

That could be due to the way the camera was positioned or could have been a different camera. The idea is to notice the change in smoothness of the video and nothing else(when comparing fps)

you want some headroom to make sure you dont drop fps so low in a 'firefight'. achieving 30fps when nothing is happening on screen or when your character is looking up at the ceiling is nothing to be proud of.

achieving 60fps in peak game moments is just as good to me than achieving 30fps also in extreme gaming conditions.

you don't want to be limited to 30fps in a game which demands 60 to keep stable at its peak.

Now thats a reply that is helpful, thanks.:)

I remember playing Crysis on a new rig i bought nearly 2 years ago, think i had a GTS 250 or something, it looked ok. I bet i only had about 18fps aswell with that card:eek:

Guess to us casual players, you don't notice as much;)

You had a GTS250 2 years ago??

Wind?

I thought you would be able to notice it even in still pictures, i guess i was very wrong:o

But as i say still wondering whether paying a lot extra for a card that gives you probaby 10-20 more FPS is worth it.

No as a GPU will render the game frame by frame, which will in effect be image by image, if its low fps it will just have less images.

If youve seent he crysis explosive barrel videos on youtube, a lot of them are built frame by frame but look smooth as hell.

Yup, that's the effect higher FPS has.

The dynamic range is altered depending on the frame rate, as well as the colour intensity.

At 30 fps, you can achieve 30^2 = 900:1 contrast ratio.

At 60fps, you can achieve 60^2 = 3600: contrast ratio.

The luminance and chroma is obviously related to the fourth power of the frame rate, thus giving

30 fps = 810,000 colours
60fps = 12.9 million colours

Both of these effects are well demonstrated in the image posted earlier:

Don't even get me started on what happens when you go beyond 120 fps as it requires multidimensional colour representations.

For the sake of clarity, I've subtracted the 60fps picture away from the 30fps picture.

This is truly the difference between 30fps and 60fps. I hope this is helpful for those who are undecided about whether or not to upgrade their graphics card.
