for sky sports oddly enough you need sky.

Nope, freeview is freeview. You just get the free channels. There is some kind of monthly topup to get some more channels but it's not really taken off. The reasons for this are mainly:

1) The extra channels are pants.
2) See (1).

ye at the moment i am figuring out what place to put the ariel and get a better reception , like 1 station will work with the arial upside down and another station will work with is on its side , just moving it about is a pain

I have Freeview and it satisfies all of my televisual needs. I used to have a fairly comprehensive package from Telewest but got fed up because the service was pants. Freeview is much moe respomnsive and there are more than enough channels to keep me entertained. QUite frankly, 30 odd channels of crap for free or 120 channels of crap for 40 quid a month.

I am even contemplating getting rid of the telly all together, I jsut get depressed watching it as the majority of the programmes are politically correct, intelligence insulting and boring. I find myself watching Sky News and UK History and just about nothing else.

got a freeview box with a built in HD

and yes you do have to pay for television X...have seen it and is not worth paying for LOL

"uncesnsored" means nothing...it is lol

Nope - we get it through our Freeview box, and we have/had no dish on our property.

The worst is UKTV Gold, most times I flick past it there is something I wanna watch (e.g. Allo Allo, Only Fools And Horses etc.), and I think you have to pay extra for it. :(

No you don't. You get Sky Sports News but the actual sports channels are not and will not be on freeview. Only sports channels on freeview are Setanta and Eurosport and they both need subscriptions

I'm pretty sure you don't get UKTV Gold as well :S

UK Gold is part of the Top-up TV package so it can be recieved by freeview but it costs extra.

UKTV Gold is a Topup TV channel - like he says, it's visible (and you can see the name of what's on) but you can't actually watch it.

Sky Sports channels aren't (and never will be) available on Freeview - there are a few Sky-branded channels (Sky Sports News, Sky News, Sky Three) on Freeview, but nothing that Sky think people would subscribe to Sky to get!

Hasn't the Top-Up TV thing been binned. last time I visited their website, they are trying to flog their own box rather than a top-up card for existing boxes?

Not binned, but they are definately taking a different tack. The main issue is that as soon as you are into subscription TV you are better off with a proper service, added to the fact that 90% of boxes do not feature a CAM. The price they are trying to sell that box at too is incredible.
