Just ordered myself a set of the above ram and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with them. Do they overclock well? Have I got much chance of hitting 500MHz at 5/5/5/15 timings, or even better at the stock timings? :D

I have this ram and it is stable at 970 at 5 5 5 15 at 2.3v but from looking round the web you will be very lucky to get 1000+ I haven't seen anybody get that high as it now uses promos chips.

Thanks for the info :)

I will be trying to find the max for my E2160, its currently at 3.42GHz (380FSB) so even with the ram at stock it will allow me to try for 3.6GHz (400FSB). Did you by any chance see if the ram was capable of tighter timings at its stock speed?

I got some delivered this morning.

I have had a little play with them and got them stable to 900mhz 4-4-4-12 with 2.17v through them.

Got the E6320 unlinked @ 3.2Ghz with FSB/DRAM 1:1

I did try 950mhz with the same settings but they fell over.

When I get back after going to the post office I am going to drop the timings and see if I can get 1000mhz with the same voltage or maybe up it just a little more.

Whats the safest voltage I can put through these anyway?

As always adding more voltage is really down to what you feel safe with. I personally would go no more than 2.2v for 24/7 usage and will more than likely be just leaving it at 2.1v. CityLink still haven't turned up with mine but keep me posted with your progress and I will post back with some results when they turn up :)

Well I got back, made a brew and started to batter this new Corsair of mine.

I got some pretty good results tbh.

Firstly I tried to get it as far as I could with 2.1v. I couldnt get it anything past 930mhz with 4-4-4-12 timings and it was stable at that setting, doing 2hrs of memtest with no errors.

Time to up the voltage to 2.2v and see what I can get. I had to slacken the timings to 5-5-5-15 and it hit 1000mhz and ran through memtest without breaking a sweat.

With the room temp at 22c and a temperature probe inserted inbetween the ram and the heatsink, with both settings, the temperature was a constant 49c while stressing it.

On idle it sits at an average of 36c - 38c.

I'm tempted to see if I can get 1066mhz on these but not sure if I want to up the voltage any more than it is.

With regards to benching the stuff, I used Everest and with 925mhz 4-4-4-12 & 1000mhz 5-5-5-15, both with 2.2v there was very little difference in scores apart from the first having a better latency.

For now I will stick with 925mhz as that is more than enough speed for me. :)

Edit: Forgot to mention. I ended up with a 1GB stick of OCZ Special Ops and thought I would see what that can do and I got 900mhz with 4-4-4-12 1T timings on stock voltage and 1000mhz with 4-4-4-12 2T and 2.2v

Cant find another matched stick anywhere on the net to buy. Gutted!!! :(

You had some great results mate :) I think you must have got a slightly better set than mine, I tried 2.1v first and managed 912MHz at 4/4/4/12 stable in memtest.

I tried going down to 5/5/5/15 and upping the volts slightly to 2.2v but they don't want to go above 950MHz. Never mind though, I am happy with 912MHz at the C4 timings and I only paid £36 so I can't complain.

My E2160 seems to be at its peak at 3.42GHz, I did try for 3.6GHz but it needed a fairly big raise in vcore so I decided to just leave it as it is.

Well done on the special ops stick as well, that's a really nice overclock seeing as you are still at the C4 timings :)

It may pay to run a blend session on your ram, mine flew through memtest no problems but running prime95 blend restarted the system even at stock.

I have been having loads of weird problems this morning, lots of crashes and even a few warning messages about file consistency??? I even had to reactivate windows for some reason, I am not sure why

Anyway I whipped the sticks out and replaced them with my old stuff and it seems to be back to normal, just to make sure I ran prime95 blend and all was well again. Not sure what's up with them to be honest but it looks like they are going to have to go back.

Funny you should say that about the re-activation.

I replaced my ageing HSF yesterday with an Evo 120 and at the same time added the Corsair memory and had to do the exact same thing

I will give it some blend testing on Prime95 and see what happens.

Well I put it under a blend test for 8hrs last night with Prime95 on 925mhz with 4-4-4-12 2T
2.2v and I got no errors.

You may have a dodgy set of sticks and tbh, the reviews I have read have all said this kit goes easily past 900mhz without breaking a sweat so you might have lost out.

Shame really and hope your new kit gives you better results mate :)

If its the DHX kit, I have 2 kits of 2GB.

Just like the normal cheaper Corair they do 1000mhz 4:4:4:12 / 2T with 2.1v in AMD rigs I have built but on my Intel I had to set to 5:5:5:18 /2T and 2.2v for 1000mhz.

Could possbily change the 18 to 15 not sure as still testing and new Dominator 1066mhz Mmemory arriving tomorrow.

Helmutcheese, please find me on MSN when you have a moment.

Its good news to hear that your sticks are working well, I am not sure what was up with mine, I did send them back and since using my old stuff all of the problems have disappeared.

It was quite strange because I was having all sorts of weird issues, like you said though maybe I just got a duff set. Not sure what to get as replacements... I could go for another set of the Corsair or possibly try something else.

I have only really used Corsair and Crucial in the past so am not really sure how good other makes are. I am tempted to just get some Ballistix 5300, I did have a set once before and they were nice and stable but now there seems to be a few stories going round the forums of frequent rma's which is something that puts me off slightly.

BTW Im talking same PC6400 as OP but the Silver DHX sinks (incase he aint), even the cheap XMS2 hit same speed but only on AMD rigs for some reason, probably the ON-CPU Memory Controler.

All the Memory bellow has ran at 1000mhz with no change to timming or voltage for me in any AMD Rig I have build over the years.

The DHX now has Orange stickers, it used to be Green stickers, I dont see any change to revision on the stickers.

@ Yellowbeard, added you, hope not going to say about new Memory as I just ordered 2 new 2GB Dominators from "this week only"

I did make sure its the 2.2v Micron Modules with the "D" heatsink ;).
