Just had one and it hurts :(

To top it off, I was really hungry as I wasn't allowed to eat from 7am, but I didn't wake upto to eat so I hadn't eaten from last night :(

I feel like I have a larger hole through my throat leading down into the gullet :(

Anyone else epxerienced it?

No but I'm expecting one soon, better that than up the other end.

Just be thankful you didn't have a colonoscopy

(or what ever they are called)

Ugh, had one three weeks ago as I've got an ulcer that was bleeding.

Very weird having your insides tugged around. So glad it was top end rather than bottom though.

A friend of mine is currently suing a hospital for negligence because his nan died of an endoscopy, something which should be a pretty routine procedure. They pierced something, may have been her osophegus (no idea how to spell that) and she pretty much drowned in her own blood. She was in her early 70's.

I'd find the thought of having one terrifying now.

Hopefully the soreness should go away soon...

I've had two, got a hiatus hernia, diagnosed on the first one, the second was to check for some random condition that would mean the nhs would operate or not...

The first was horrid, the second i had the 'sedation' for, the one they used on me was actually the date-rape drug, so i was awake and everything but i just don't remember about 2 hours of that day, and no soreness from it which was nice \o/ :p

I've had a gastroscopy (endoscopy via mouth into stomach) but I was under general for it as I was quite young. Throat hurt a fair bit afterwards.

I've had 3 from the top and 2 from the bottom :(

First and third gastroscopies; the sedation worked and I felt fine with just a little sore throat, the second one; they didn't give me enough sedative and I remember the whole thing - not a pleasant experience.

The 2 bottom ones were performed with no sedation and were so unpleasant the nurse had to hold my hand and the sweat was pouring from me (at least I know I'm not gay :p ).

The worst part was when the doctor calmly announced that the first 15 inches of my back passage was fine

FIFTEEN BLOODY INCHES - THAT'S HALF WAY TO MY HEART :(

Stan :)

Sorry to tell you amte but they may have little or do ground to go on. When I had mine I signed this thing (which was compulsary if I wanted to go ahead with it) which gave a whole loads of statics for when it can go wrong and what can go wrong. And basically it said I have read, understand and accept the possibly risks of the procedure I am aobut to undergo. Yes it wasnt nice what happened to your mates gran but stuff liek that happens sometimes no reason to go suing really is it.

When I had it done it was possibly the most awful thing I have had done to me ever:/ Not nice.

I've had a couple of them with some crazy ultrasound camera.
It annoyed me a bit but the nurses gave me ice cream and a playstation to play on :D
So I was happy :)

LOL, fifteen inches in, not fifteen inches up. You know how long your intestine is? ;)

I've had a few endoscopys and loads of colonoscopys and I thought the endoscopy was by far the worst, no sedation and then they pumped syringe after syringe of barium into my intestines, it was awful :(
