Mouse - Habu
OS - Windows 7

For some reason recently my mouse has started playing up. It works fine and then suddenly freezes (the touchpad on my laptop still responds) before working again a few seconds later. I tried different USB ports, same problem. I then opened device manager and realised when this happens the Habu gaming mouse driver disappears and then reappears when the mouse starts working again. Any ideas what might be causing this, it's infuriating :D

Cheers

Sounds like a loose connection maybe? Are the freezes regular or random? If it's random a dodgy connection could be very probable.

Im a gamer, and its happend to just about all of my friends, weve tried to find reasons for it, but it tends to be old age .. usualy after 2-3 years! dont know why it does it, but we just replaced ours!

I had this problem with an mx518, used to freeze for a few seconds then unfreeze, also sometimes it would go crazy and open up tons of applications and fly accross the screen.

Changed it to a Razor deathadder and all the problems have gone!

Guess it was some issue with my motherboard and the mouse!

It could be break in the wire where it enters the mouse. Wiggle it and see.
Basically the copper strands inside the sleeved rubber may have become brittle and snapped.

It's easy to fix if you're prepared to open it up, cut the section where the break probably is and re-attach it.

Or phone MS for a replacement.

I had this with my MX518, whenever I made a fast moving motion it would mess about and freeze up, it's liable to be a dodgy wire.

As soon as I gave it to my friend and he usedit just for casual surfing, it was fine.

I've had this problem with 2 Habus before, its where the usb cable meets the mouse that gets loose and breaks, RMA it and get a new one :)

Yep that's it, if I mess around with the cable near the mouse it suddenly turns off. If I leave the mouse dead steady and only use the wheel it works fine.

Cheers
