Hi,
I recently changed the PS3 HDD for a 320gb Western Digtal which works perfectly.
The problem I am having is with the old 40gb drive from the PS3. The drive works perfectly (and has been formatted to FAT32) if plugged directly into the SATA & power cable in my computer, but refuses to work when in the caddy. The power light on the caddy illuminates (so it is obviously getting power) but the drive is not spinning up.
I have tried plugging it into the USB port of the PS3 and three different computers, without luck. I've tried the extra USB power cable and i've even bought a different make of caddy, but it still has the same problem.
Would you say there is something wrong with the drive which somehow requires it to only work with a direct PC power supply, or is there something obvious that I have missed.
The caddys I have tried are Icybox IB-266StUS-B and the JAZZ EB207S-B 2.5' BLACK SATA.
Thanks for your help.
