Anyone had troubles with X-Fi on P5K...?

E6850, 8800GTX, 4 x 1GB RAM, Enermax 720 PSU, 2 x WD500AAKS HD's, 1 x SATA optical

Seemed like a BIOS conflict casing the POST to hang (got no beep, only fans starting up etc., nothing else). Take the card out and it POSTs fine.

Assuming it's just a conflict, maybe with the onboard sound, but am installing atm and will get everything else setup first before going back to try it again.

No, new build before even OS installed.

Initial POST after build (and also after CMOS reset) - goes fine but once the BIOS is saved (i.e. update clock, restart etc.) the POST hangs, no beep, no video.

Take X-Fi out and restart, no problem. X-Fi just been taken out of another machine so no issues directly with that. Must be some sort of conflict.

There is a known problem with X-Fi cards, 4Gb of RAM and an 8800 combo, loads about it on creative forums.

Leave the x-fi in but remove 2gb ram and see if it still happens

I'm running this combo and it's pretty much ok.

Had to re-install the driver a few times due to the microphone being a bit dodgy, but other than that, it's ok.

It's an issue with the current drivers more than anything, reverting back to the previous set generally fixes the 4GB issue.

Funny that, I don't get any problems with my xfi elite pro, didn't get any when i tested a xfi EA pci-e either.

Using a p5k del with xfi in the bottom slot, originally had some problems with it but they cleared up after i changed from the supplied bios.

On vista and xp x64.

Only affects the cards without X-RAM so your elite pro would be fine :)

You cant really compare that card tho as its a different bus and really is only a souped up audigy

Myself ive had problems running an extreme music in my board - ive tried 2 and neither worked.

I then tried the PCI-E x-fi and it was fine - in fact it was almost perfect i was very impressed with it.

Then i got a cheap Fatality off the MM yesterday and it was fine, works 100%

The pci version is a modded audigy, the pci-e version is a totally different chip and doesn't suffer 99.9% of the problems that some of the pci versions do.
