I had access to a £500 overdraft in my first year, and recently discovered it can be increased to £1250 in my second year. However, I need to make at least three debit transactions each month in order to keep it going.

I've made a lot of transactions each month but unfortunately for August all of them were quite late in the month, and so they counted for September instead. This meant they declined my overdraft increase request. A person at my branch said try again next month, whilst someone on the phone for Natwest said try again in three.

Not quite sure what to do now. It's been over a month but I don't want to risk being declined again and having to wait longer, but at the same time I am desperate for the money. Has anyone else missed the three transactions and had to wait a while? If so, how long?

Three transactions??? My student account saw over 100 a month haha.

Also tbh i would stay away from the overdraft. Stop buying alcohol.

I have an account with natwest, I'm a student but it's not a student account. However I agree, overdraft is there as an emergency not there to use. If you want to use something to pay back later on in the month get a credit card.

I didn't use it much at all throughout the summer; just enough to meet the requirements. Looks like I should have used it more!

It's more for rent and food if I'm honest (yes, I'm applying for jobs to help with that). I buy cheapo wine these days so that doesn't make a dent in it.

i never even paid my loan into my natwest student account but took full advantage of the interest free overdraft and rail card !

after 3 years they sent me a letter saying the heavily debteed account was blocked and but after a phone call they just asked me to make a payment into the account
