Anyone have an Asus Vintage V3-P5945GC?

Havent got that exact one but i did have an AM2 one and no heatsink was suppied, i had to usae the stock one that came with the CPU

I had the same problem, reviews were very very scarce.

It weas a very compact unit and all i had to do to get up and running was install the cpu, ram and drives and it was up and running.

It came with a fairly decent asus motherboard, albeit lacking in most overclocking options but it was a solid board and it sits in my kids machine as we speak.

Main problem for me was the PSU, at only 300w it couldnt cope with the 7600GT i tried in it. It was fine with a 7300GT DDR3 tho.

It was a decent, if slightly plasticy looking tower. Cant beat it for the price tho.
:)

just built one for my mum, only problem i had was finding a bios update, have to select 'barebones' on asus website and the usb jumpers needed changing the + mode for vista sleep to work (easily done)

ask any question

I looked on the asus site for cpu support, will this thing work out of the box with a d820 dual-core or will I need to update the bios beforehand? its an oldish chip now but as its sitting in a drawer doing nowt I would rather do something with it.

Im very tempted to get one of these as shuttles are so dam expensive for what they are and I cant afford it.

I had the 965 version, now discontinued. I chose the 965 for quad cord support.

There's no HSF supplied, but an Arctic Freezer 7 will fit. A bit needs cutting off the bottom of the fan where it's next to the motherboard HS.
A standard ATX PSU will fit but the shorter the better because there's not much room between the PSU and the back of any optical drives. I had a Hiper which self destructed and took the motherboard with it. A standard mATX motherboard will fit.

Mine has had additional HD brackets fitted so I can fit an extra 3HDs.

BTW it can take a D820
