Anyone have some really good Science Fiction Book recommendations?

I wouldn't skip Phlebas either. Algebraist is one of the best for sure; loved that setting and scope. I did briefly meet him and have a signed copy of Surface Detail. One of my big regrets is that his widow rang my work to close their account after he passed and I didn't tell her how much enjoyment his books had given me. I didn't really connect it all while on the phone; such a shame. I still haven't read the Quarry despite having the hardback since release.

The only other author I have pretty much all of the books they've written on my shelves and not yet mentioned is China Miéville. Not strict Sci Fi but worth a mention. Definitely odd and knowing he's a Marxist does help explain some of it :).

Just finished Galactic Breach.

I felt it generally flowed a little better than the first, although would rate it the same as the first.

Found a few bits as with the last book broke my suspension of disbelief e.g. the ethics discussion when the torpedoes were taken control of.

Moving on to the next one.

My decent reads:-

Hell Divers

Peace and War / The Forever War

Bobiverse

The Silo Saga, and it's spin-offs.

The Nexus Series

Old Man's War
I read a few Hell Divers was ok, became a bit grim.
