Iv been using my Sony 55 inch bravia TV for a while now and im looking to treat myself to an OLED tv and what better than to get a 4k LG model at £2499 plus £250 off trade in for my old tv.
I was wondering if anyone on here has this TV and what is there experiance with it?

Its a great price for a 4k OLED in my opinion. Especially considering i paid more for the Sony TV i own at the moment.
Its £1600 for the 1080p one but for a few hundred more why not go all out and get a future proof 4K tv right.

Would love to hear from any owners of this on here if there is any.

It's the 2nd best 55" tv available now, the best 55" being the EF950 I have owned both the 55"s before I traded for the 65EF950

What makes the EF950 the better tv? they both cost the same price and from looking at the specs the only difference i can see is the EF950 is just the flat version where as the 960 is the curved. Does the 950 support HDR as the 960 doesn't?

Yeah the 950 does support HDR over hdmi, it also handles low level black a little better than the 960

Is a 55inch TV large enough to utilise 4K properly? When you consider the room it's in and how far away you sit from it when watching, would 4k really be an improvement over say a standard HD TV? I'm not in the market for an upgrade yet. Just curious.

The only reason I don't have a 4K OLED right now is the input lag, which isn't great for gaming. Otherwise I'd be all over it!

Depends how far away you sit :D

My sofa is about 12 feet from my 4k 58" TV.

My PC is in my lounge though, and I have an office chair on wheels in the corner. If I play PC games on the TV at 2160p, I move the office chair and end up sitting about 5 ft away.

I think I want your life:D

How do these LG OLEDs stand up to the classic Pioneer Kuros in terms of picture and black levels?

I don't want or need 4k so I'm just watching the 1080p 55" prices....I think they they get down to <1k I'll pull the trigger.

The black level on the Pioneer was 0.001 right? as far as i know thats the same with OLED from the reviews iv read. Pretty much perfect black. my only worry with these LG OLED's is the banding that people have reported a lot that you can notice on panning.
I used to have an LG LED tv that went back after a few days because of banding so i notice it very easy.
I'm like you in a way i don't really need 4K that bad since theres no 4k blu ray players even available yet but im in the market for a upgrade over my Sony so it would be pointless me going for just an 1080p OLED. At least this way its futureproof so i dont have to upgrade for a long long time. I mean it should be the Ultimate TV really. Perfect black levels, stunning colour, Passive 3D with no crosstalk, 4k and HDR. Shouldnt really need anything else for a very long time now. My only worry though is screen uniformity and banding which im reading these LG sets suffer from.

A decent CRT had noticeably better black levels than a kuro. Even a cheap crt tbh. The problem was the weight and massive foot print for not much screen size! So there's plenty of room for improvement over a kuro. I've yet to see a calibrated oled in a decent setting, but if it's not noticeably better than a kuro we've been waiting for not much. I suspect this isn't the case.

I own the 55EG920V. I love it to be fair. Cant comment on the other OLEDS but they are all so similar you cant go wrong really. There are issues with banding, tint and dark edges on some sets so if you are fussy or have a keen eye for those things then be aware.

Will be getting mine calibrated in the new year.

Heres a detailed set up of the one i have. he's also done the other models so have a look.

Mine if far superior to my old 9th gen kuro, and I wouldn't go back for any amount of money :p

How is the banding and issues just above full black that im reading about with these sets? My old LG LED went back because of banding so i notice it easy.
It seems these OLED have it too which can be noticed on panning shots.
Its something i wouldnt have suspected an OLED to have but it would frustrate me if i end up with vertical bands for the price of these.

Unnoticeable 98% of the time, there is no banding visible in football or in real time content, I can honestly say I have seen the banding for no more than a few seconds a time a handful of times in the 2 months I have had the 960/950

I've just installed my 65EG970V.

Overall I'm very very happy with it. The black levels are utterly amazing. I watch in a darkened cinema room and it's a lot better than my previous Plasma (although that was only a Samsung PD51, so not in the same league at the Kuro)

I haven't noticed and banding or tinting, although I have noticed the slightly dark edges on certain scenes (slight vignette), but I've been very much looking for it as it's a new TV, so I can't be sure if it's part of the actual scene or introduced by the screen. Either way it's not an issue. Banding in particular would drive me nuts and there's none of that.

My biggest criticism is that, compared to plasma, it's much less forgiving of the video source. Blue rays and 1080P at a decent streaming bitrate looks great. Virgin HD looks good too, but NowTV (through Apple TV) looks very poor, whereas the Plasma did quite a good job of hiding the 720P resolution (and poor bitrate). For info I sit about 9 feet away.

Would love to see a few pics of that.
Also do i need new HDMI cables for 4k? or will my normal ones on my 1080p set suffice?
