Hi Guys,

Found this in my loft and other than it being a small oil painting im clueless as to who its by, how old it is or if its worth anything. Any help would be appreciated, ive tried antiques and arts forums but they seem to be as populated as anthrax island during the none tourist season.

Googling the terms: bed, umbrella, books and using image search led me to a painting called "Der arme Poet" by Carl Spitzweg. Yours looks like a small part of the painting.

That doesn't really help too much I suppose, as yours will be a reproduction, and unless the artist who did it has signed it, you might be stuck.

Thanks, least I know what it is now I guess! Doesnt look like its signed unless under the frame

Take it on the Antiques roadshow hoping it will be worth a bomb and then do the grimacing "oh, that's nice" face when told it's worth £100-£200 :D

All joking aside, I do enjoy it when someone goes in with something they think is junk and it's worth a bomb.
