Hi
I asked this a while ago but seem to have drawn a blank:

When I boot up my system the monitor doesn't fire up yet i can hear w7 loading. However, when I press the 'reset' button on the rampage 2 mobo, it boots up fine and the monitor gets a signal. So it appears that the gfx card doesn't send a signal until I reset. Once the system is up and running, I can restart no problem, it is only from a cold boot up that there seems to be an issue.
This has only happened since I swapped gfx from a 6950 to 6990 and the card itself works fine. Any ideas?
Cheers

I had a friend who had a similar problem, a simple switch to another slot fixed his. Don't know if you've given that a try yet.

Hi
Rampage 2 extreme
i7 950 @ 4.4
Xfx 850 PSU
Custom water loop
Sapphire 6990
Card is 2nd hand, 8 months old but seems fully working as it is sound once I boot with a reset and plays mw3 no probs. It is in the top slot and I have tried in the others and its just the same. Someone suggested mobo reset by taking out the battery.

I'm getting the exact same thing happen to me but I have a 4870x2. However, mine is worse than yours as I get the black screen (no signal) whenever I try to game and now it happens when I try and update the ati drivers. So frustrating. My no longer allows me to install the ati drivers so I'm currently using the microsoft generic ones and even then it sometimes boots with no signal but I have sound. I'm also using a Rampage 2 extreme.

Could try a bios update if not running the latest.

Could also try having a look at the advances PCIE and maybe even crossfire options in bios. I know that the crossfire is on card in this instance but it may have an effect.

Try disabling quickboot, maybe the card isnt initiating in time but that's a long shot.

When you are booting you may want to try switching display mode VGA/DVI/HDMI etc as I have seen this force cards to initiate in the past.

If the card is part of your waterloop try plugging the fan in to the card and see if that makes a difference to boot.

A lot of long shots there for you :)

Don't know if it will work but its worth a try.

In the BIOS settings, you can change the PCI E (think it may be for voltage or for somthing like that). 100 is default, try 101.

have you tried changing what slot ur connection is in ie ur vga/dvi cable. ive had numerous graphics cards that just wot load the monitor (till password screen ) if they were in the wrong dvi socket.

Roey,
Have you tried taking the battery out of the mobo and resetting the bios? I might do this but I will lose all the overclock settings

No mate I haven't but like you I too will lose my Overclock profiles. Might just jot them all down and give it a shot. Nothing to lose. Thanks mate.

Hi All
Think I have got to the bottom of it, well sort of. I reset the BIOS to default and it's fine, boots up no problem. When I reset the overclock to what is was before, it happens again. So obviously something in the OC causing this. Any ideas?
