Anyone here going buy two XT1900XT-X for crossfire

That's not what the ATI manuals on ATI.com say. If xfiring, say, a 16 pipe card with a 12 pipe cards then the 16 pipe card 'disables' 4 pipes to match the lesser card, but when running different speeds on otherwise identical cards then each card will continue to run at it's own speed.

Indeed, some of the reviews around today confirm as much. Basically that XT-X and XT Mastercard will be marginally quicker than XT and XT Mastercard.

HTH :D

£938 just for the gfx is barking mad. only filthy rich should do this. as most of us are regular then its pretty silly spending all that money on just gfx

one x1900xtx is more than enough for decent gaming.

one x1800xt is more than enough for decent gaming.

but i suppose if your a diehard 3dmark score collector then £938 is justified

but will having a crossfire give u double the fps in games at high resolution cos then i would think it worth it. if not then its a waste of money.

LOL, What is it with people and their fixation of how others spend money ?
Every other thread I read seems to have one :p
If Fred Smith wants to buy 2 of XYZ @ £499 thats his choice.
If he wanted the best option on a particular budget, he would have asked, as it is all the original poster wanted to know was what were the scores in benchmark for that set-up, a perfectly legitamate question on a forum of this nature :)

Oh and to answer said question from looking around various sites, X1900 Crossfire @stock with a 2.7 ghz X2 CPU is getting over 9k 3DM06 :)

No.
It will give you a good increase in very high res/quality settings, and dependant on game, but nothing near double.

If you had a 200HP car that could do 0-60 in 6 seconds, and a top speed of 150 mph, dropping a 400HP engine in it wouldn't give you a 0-60 of 3 seconds and 300 mph either .. double the power hardly ever means double the performance in most situations.

Certainly not good value for money, but then thats not what the question was :)
Nor is getting hammered a few nights a week with only a hangover to show for it, but many do, now If I could have 12 hangovers or one piece of top end hardware ..... I think you know were I am going ;)

the pub...?

I really do think ATI & Nvidia must be singing Dell's praises because the 2405 has really showcased what CF/SLI can do.

I am still of the opinion that unless you own a screen that runs at this res or above, you do not need CF/SLI.

Well you can't go x1800 crossfire anymore, so everyone will have to go x1900 for Crossfire, or x8 series. :)

Did Sapphire never release a master x1800xt card then? :( I know it sounds sad but I wanted a sapphire model to go with my current one even tho you can mix n match brands.

Well it matters not, as they are all built by ATi and the appropriate sticker placed on the heatsink by the "brand".
Looking through benchies in a series of different games 2x X18 in Xfire are faster in most cases than 1 X19, even in titles like F.E.A.R. which uses those extra shaders in the newer card, X18 Xfire is only down 1 fps at 16x12 to the X19.

It is hard to find X18 Xfire cards, and will be even harder soon.
So I sweet talked the wife to lend me some money until I get paid, and an X1800XT Crossfire, Asus A8R-MVP and Zalman Fatality VGA Cooler are on the way :)

No they did not, ATI did. ;)

Your Sapphire card is an ATI card and the X1800 master cards available are all ATI as well, so it would be matched anyway. ;)

Of course Gibbo ;)
Ok so you were a tad pricier for the Mobo, but only one lot of postage made that up, and I have always had good service ... mind you I would hate to add up what I have spent with you over the years

Should be arriving tommorow, I have a job in the morning, so no tweaking till later on, I was hoping to get away with a repair install .. but then I remembered I have Raid 0 so that aint gonna happen
Should be a straight 6K in 06 with my single core CPU @ 2.6ghz.

Cant wait to see how games run in crossfire :)
