I have a little problem here with a phone I bought off Ebay.
Got it end of May time and it worked fine for a while, about a month or so ago I couldn't make any calls or send texts with it, so I call up T-Mobile, who I'm with, and they say the phones IMEI is on the networks blacklist. After spending a long time trying to get the seller to sort it out (and now he's gone silent) I just rang O2 (because that is originally who the phone was with) and asked them about it.
They looked up the IMEI, confirmed it was blocked having been reported lost/stolen. (Now I know it wasn't stolen in the sense of being robbed off some guy in the street as it came boxed with the IMEI on the box labels matching the phone, all accessories etc). But it seems the phone has no association to any customer, without a customer name there is no one they can contact about the phone and no way remove the block.
The woman I spoke to said this was the first time she'd had such an enquiry so I was wondering if there was anyone from O2 here who might have an idea if there is anything that can be done.

The fact that the seller has gone silent just about says everything.

Oh yeah, it's clearly dodgy one way or another, the O2 CSR suggested he may have ordered the phone then reported that it wasn't delivered, then sold it on.
I'm pretty resigned to the fact that I've been scammed and there's nothing that can be done, just thought I'd check.

How did you pay for the phone? I'm pretty sure this is disputable under paypal and ebay.

Paid via paypal, but the phone worked for almost 2 months before being blocked, can only raise paypal disputes within 45 days of paying for item. Trying the ebay dispute thing atm, but it's taking ages and no idea what'll happen.

Well if you can't get it un-blacklisted the only way it will work on another network will be if the person who reported it lost /stolen reports it found again or if you change the IMEI. Changing the IMEI is illegal and probably not possible on your handset.
