Anyone in here in a band?

Played in a band called 8-Bit Ninjas for a few years.

Was good fun, chip-tune/electronic music, but with guitars/keyboards. (I played Bass and a bit of keyboard)

I think our last gig as a band was at Limetree Festival a few years back. Don't really have much contact with the other guy in the band now as we've both moved to different parts of the country, which made practising difficult! - Much more difficult than it was when we were in a house share that is!

Unfortunately I haven't done anything since. Always fancied doing some 50's-60's rock/blues - Chuck Berry kinda stuff. ... couldn't get any more opposite I guess!? lol

My old band was called No Voice of Mine

we played all over and made loads of noise. we never got any good recordings done which sucked.

currently doing some stuff with a bunch of mates.

bassist from no voice of mine, who currently has a broken wrist so practice is off atm.
guitarist who used to be in Blitz Kids. very talented guy.

two of the guys from Sworn to Oath are going to be getting involved once they have released their new album.
their vocalist/bassist will be playing guitar for us [he was in no voice of mine for a year]

we will have their drummer too hopefully.

musical style is all punk rock sort of stuff. not really got a direction for it yet. probably a bit lighter and less aggressive than NVOM but time will tell.

Then I can come a ruin one song with some guest vocals.

I'm in a prog rock/metal band from Oxford (though most of us aren't in Oxford any more) called Indigo Montoya (though that band name is bad, and we'll be changing it soon). Sadly we've only got a few old recordings up on soundcloud but we're working on an EP which is looking likely to sound great (or at least far better than those songs there).
You can have a listen to them old songs here if you want: https://soundcloud.com/indigomontoya

Our sound is more like Karnivool and Porcupine Tree than Rush and Pink Floyd, I guess that's probably due to the inspiration of the metal side of things. The more recent stuff we've been writing (rather than those songs on the soundcloud there) are quite a lot heavier, partially because of the songs themselves and partially because they were written/played on seven-string guitars. Woop.

The Maynard is strong in this one. Excellent really!

Still playing these days in another band but nothing too serious, just a bit of fun with fairly regular gigs around the weekends, and recently played our first festival at Lakefest alongside the Levellers and Chas and Dave*!

*in a different tent :p

What is the band name BigDaddy? We went to Lakefest for the 2nd time this year and caught a few of the bands in the Guildhall and Floating Globe tents. :)

We're the Whipjacks, played second from top on the Friday night in the Floating Globe. Annoyingly it was the same time as The Beat, I really wanted to see them :(

I'm a drummer and currently doing a project on/off the past few years with my guitarist mate called Ikarus which has a number of influences mainly progressive rock/metal, sludge & stoner. Got about 40 minutes worth of songs with just drums & guitars atm, no vocals & bass yet. The demos are very rough recordings done with a pocket recorder, full of mistakes in playing :p but we're 10x tighter now haha:

My old band from about 6-8 years ago, was the drummer a groove metal band with punk influences called Creep Cult Murderers.
Live show circa 2005: http://youtu.be/o8py95BjzLw

Enjoy and have a laugh at the mistakes ;)

OP: "I later got into a band called Goldfinger who are vegans "

Goldfinger consists of purely Vegans, so either it's the lamest "copy" of a band ever, or he was in the real one ;)

How have you all got this so wrong.... lol

The guy in that thread link isnt claiming to BE IN Goldfinger, he is merely saying he GOT INTO a band named Goldfinger.....got into meaning found out about them and started listening to and enjoying their music.

I'm a massive Goldfinger fan....that Vegan wanabe super weightlifter is not in the band and never has been. lol

Back on track for the thread - I was a drummer in punk/ rock bands from when I was about 15 to when I was about 24. Still do the odd gig occassionally but not really up to much now. I really miss it though :(
Just dont really have time anymore with work and other commitments. One thing I am really looking forward to though is for my wedding next August, instead of hiring a wedding band, me, my fiancee (singer) and other musicians I've been in bands with over the years are going to do a 45min set at my wedding which should be great fun :D

AHHH, makes a bit more sense now!

I'm in a cheesy covers band called The Spangles, here's a vid of a small part of our set we played about 5 years ago.

I'm the drummer :)

I used to play in various metal bands between 1995-2005 but alas I had to get a "proper" job due to female reasons. Still play my drums but not involved in any bands... kind of miss gigging but then I remember the colossal amount of hassle that goes with it. Dont really have the drive for it any more :/

Theres a guy on here who played in The Defiled until not too long ago.

As a few of you may have seen a fairly recent thread i'm the drummer in a band called BlackWolf (web address link in sig).

Just putting the finishing touches to our album (it's mostly mastered now) so will update t'other thread when it's nearer release to anyone who'd Pledged :)
