I'm planning a trip to Oxford this week to have a look around because it's a place that I always seem to drive through along the A40 but have never properly been.

What places are worth a look and also they do an open top bus tour (I know it's cold!) but for £11.50 I can't help but think that thats very expensive for what will surely be a short tour.

Never EVER drive through Oxford, i'm sure many will agree! Oxford is the most car unfriendly place in the UK. Either get a coach there or use the park and ride.

Just stop at the park and ride on the edge of oxford and pop in. Get a mini map and walk around the old colleges and along the river and you will have much more fun. Lots of shopping or even go to the theatre which is reasonably priced.

Enjoy!

def ditch the bus tour and just walk with a small map, most things you want to see are close together and you can wander around at nice leisurely place. See as many colleges as pos (only some are open to the public though), Rad cam, find a nice pub for lunch, the covered market is nice too, lots of small shops/cafes. Maybe down to the river but the weather probs won't great.
