Anyone know if ocuk test their oem cpus before sending them out?

New oem i7 920 just arrived today and i was installing it i noticed there was a touch of thermal paste on the sides as i was seating it.

I'm hoping it's not one that failed to reach the overclock in a pre-built bundle so they sold it as a stand alone.

Technically I would say no - as it would mean that the item is then used and cannot be sold as new, but who knows if the odd one escapes?????

The only things that should arrive open/used are overclocking packs.

Yeah i'm trying to think of a good reason why it would have had some paste on there but i'm struggling. As you say it could be a return or i'm leaning towards it being a chip which failed to hit 4ghz as part of the pre-clocked bundles.

Mleh nevermind i'll try the chip out and see how it goes; was not planning on clocking it much passed 3.4 or 3.6 so as long as it reaches that all is good.

Guess there is no way to monitor oem chips as they dont come wrapped/sealed though.

We just receive the CPUs in trays from Intel and transfer them to boxes to ship out. Give the guys in RMA a shout and they'll be happy to sort things out.

Ahh alright cheers slackworth. No need to RMA i'm sure the chip will be fine once i get the system up and running, was just curious as to how it might have gotten on there.
